Default Ford moving Mustang to Flatrock !

Last week I heard from a source well connected with the Ford Motor Company, that Ford plans to move Mustang production from its Dearborn facilities to its newer production plant in Flatrock, Michigan.

Dearborn has been the home and birth place for the Ford Mustang, since the 1st Mustang rolled off its assembly lines back in 1964, and it continues to this day.

I understand Dearborn is the longest running production plant in North America. It has a cherished place in Mustang history, legend and tradition. Several years ago, the Mustang Club of America in conjunction with Ford, hosted a huge Mustang event in Dearborn to celebrate this fact.

Moving Mustang production from Dearborn to Flatrock would be the end of this long and historic tradition.

Has anyone else heard anything about Ford's plans to move it's Mustang production facilities to Flatrock ?

Default Good Bye Dearborn !

Looks like this is really no rumor. From what I heard again last night, from entirely different and creditable source(s), Mustang production facilities will actually be moved from it's existing Dearborn facilities to a much newer and better equiped facility in Flatrock.

While everyone recognizes the historic significance of the Dearborn facility, this is really a "must happen" move in order to provide our modern day Mustangs with the high quality, techniquely advanced facility it so desperately needs.

As I heard it, this move goes a long way to ensuring the "Mustang" brand remains a cost effective and viable brand for many years to come.

When it comes to pony cars, the Ford Motor Company not only invented it, but managed to make the Mustang the most successful popular Pony Car of all time and soon be last remaining Pony Car in production today.

In a time when GM has sadly decided to retire our long time rival "the Camaro", I think Ford's upcoming decision to move the Mustang to its new Flatrock facility, is a very positive sign as to Ford's comitment to the Mustang Brand.

So what do I think ....

Long live our beloved Mustang and say goodbye to Dearborn because the Mustang is moving on to bigger and better things.

If stallions such as the Mustang Bullit, Cobra R and rumored Mach 1's can be produced at Dearborn, just imagine what the future has in store, considering the modern facilities and advanced technologies waiting our Mustang at Flatrock.

I for one, am very pleased and excited about Ford's continued commitment and investment in the Ford Mustang. If Ford is telling us Dearborn has to go, they have my full support !

Anyone else care to voice an opinion ?
