Dude, all it takes to bury a nuclear weapon to the point it can elude detection indefinetly is a few bags of sand, some gravel, and some water! (concrete) they can break the concrete around it later with a sledgehammer...

"have no such capability" heh!

And N. Korea isn't a real threat right now... they rely almost completely on us for food because their people are starving due to an ineffective government.

Iraq lacks the fissile material for a nuclear program. Iran has a nuclear program. Israel does, as well.

I know Iraq has the know-how to build a bomb (when I studied engineering, there were several Iraqis studying physics and material engineering, (not sure about nuclear) from when we were allied with them in the late 80's.

We stopped sending North Korea food and fuel. That's why they've restarted their nuclear (and weapons) program. Do you read the news?

You trust the news???

You've also got that backwards, they restarted their program first, then we stopped sending them food (officially)...

Un-officially??? It's like Iran-Contra, if it ain't on CNN, that's a good thing... but it's still happening.

North Korea has a ground Force of about 1 MILLION !!!

"With roughly 923,000 active-duty troops, the ground forces are by far the largest and most formidable of North Korea's military forces. The size, organization, and combat capabilities of the Army provide Pyong-yang with both an offensive military option and the ability to protect its homeland."

And under a treaty agreement North Korea was given the OK by the UN to be able to build a Nuclear Power plants as long as they did not make nuclear weapons. Well guess what under UN inspections they made Nuclear weapons, this UN stuff really works well!!!

PLEASE, let's not forget China and India.....besides the shear number of ground forces they also posses nuclear capabilities. As an American with family in the United Kingdom and Austarlia....in the military....I will support whatever is decided by our goverment. The truth of the matter is I'm tired of our country being called the police, then we make a stand and we are the bullies and intimidators..the calssic damed if you do damed if ya don't!! I would prefer we back up a bit, and improve our national security and defense!! Just my two cents!

They continued researching. they didn't start the reactors, or making fissile material, which they are doing NOW! Not before.

Don't forget Pakistan either.

Yep!

UN: (1)an international public relations commitee of no real use. (2) a blatantly anti-American group of nations who hate the US, but rely on it for economic and military support. (3) a group of self-righteous individuals from nations all over the world who meet together, form commitees and pretend that they are important.

Geezz... This thread is now COMPLETELY off-topic... I guess I'm partially to blame for that... I'll close it in a few minutes, but for now it'll be open so that kscoyote and others can post last replies and such...

Kind of ironic eh? Our closest allies formed the UN, and our policies have turned them all "anti-american" . . .

Dude! If you were drinking and about to go street-racin' and I told you that would be a bad idea, and wouldn't give you the keys, would that make me anti-"74stangtogo?"

The US still hasn't paid its dues.

3) Sounds like this conversation, n'est c'est pas?

Default Just my opinions

Start your own personal war on TERRORISM

Buy American OIL. American oil formulated for extended drain intervals 25,000 or 35,000 miles for gasoline applications. 200,000 to 400,000 miles for diesel applications. See my website for more info. Dont buy cheap organic or expensive synthetics made by companies that import their products from the middle east.....espically since they just want you to drain it out in 3,000 miles to make them more $$$........DUH Why do you think they spend so much on advertizing campaigns to drill into your head that you MUST change your oil at 3000 mile intervals? TO MAKE THEMSELVES MORE $$$.

10 years ago I read an interesting article (In Consumer Reports) that compared all the top brands of organic motor oil. The study used motor oils in NYC cabs....one cab changing at 3000 mile intervals and one changing at 6000 mile intervals. The cab motors were tore down after 60,000 miles and bearings, valves, rings, and other parts were compared to eachother. Superizing....to some (not really to me) they found little to no difference in wear.

BECOME AN INFORMED CONSUMER.....DONT BELIEVE THE FLASHY ADS AND BLINKING LIGHTS Because why do they need them???? To get you to buy from them.....if their product was good then it would stand on its own reputation and they would not have to sway you to buy it. Why do you think all companies have come out with their own Syn products????? Because they see the company that started By an american vetran 30 years ago steadily capturing a share of the oil market. They dont want that so they come out with all kinds of marketing ads to get you to buy their "NEW" products....some for high milage engines....some for 4x4......some for hi-performance....etc. Its all a marketing gimmick.....the same reason Mc-D only has the Mc Rib out for short periods of time. USE COMMON SENSE FOLKS!

Buy Gas from Non-Middle Eastern importing companies......check department of energy website for where gas companies import their oil from. I have been researching it but it is hard to determine becasue they can change from month to month. Also Venuzeula (sorry about spelling) having the strike right now has forced companies that usually buy from them to seek their supply elsewhere....usually Middle east.

So far the data I have seen has:

Shell, Chevron, Texaco, Exxon, Mobile, Marathon, Speedway, Amoco as the biggest importers from the Middle East (9/00 to 9/01).

Citgo, Sunoco, Conoco, BP, Phillips, Hess, Sinclair as not importing from the ME (9/00 to 9/01).

I am not saying buy here or there, just inform yourself and make an educated decision. The other interesting twist to this is that I have been watching the last few weeks and the ME importers have higher prices than the non-ME importers....I got gas at BP the other day and it was 8 cents cheaper per gallon than the Chevron across the street.

I have heard this info has been on the news......anyone have any additional info? Also $$ given from Saudi's to Osama bin Laden only account for 1 of the 4 sources of his financing so you must decide if it will do any good for you to buy gas somewhere else.

Oh 2 more points

1.....I have heard a rumor.....has anyone else? That France doesnt want war with Iraq for many reasons.....one being that THEY BUY ARMS FROM IRAQ.

2.....I am an military veteran who now works for State Government as an engineer in the Safe Drinking Water Program. My position marks me as a "First Responder" for homeland security. So I was asked (my choice) to take the Smallpox Vaccine. Only about 5% of my office volunterred to do so. I did it because I feel it is my responsibility to take the vaccine. I have taken this job in Public Helath and so I need to step up when needed. Yeah I might be the 2 in a million that die, or the 50 in a million who get violently ill. But it is my responsibility.

I always bashed Former Pres. Bush for not finishing the job in Iraq in the Gulf War. At a breifing it finally made sense. We were told that the reason the US made such a hasity retreat from the desert of Iraq was that as they moved towards Bagdad all intellegence was showing that Sadam was prepared to unleash many chemical and biological weapons to create a ring of protection around the city of Bagdad. The US was NOT prepared to fight this type of war......nor do I think they are ready now......I have put on the chem suits and played "War games" and I did not have confidence in the suit design......I felt like it was designed to allow me to fight for a few more hours before I succomed to the chemical or biological agents.........but we shall see.

Why......because the charcoal suits and masks do not work indefinately.......they can only absorb so much and then they need to be changed or regenrated......If I was on the frontline would I have a indefinate supply of charcoal suits to change into when one becomes absorbed? Will they provide clean down shelters where I can change my suit out to a clean one and not get myself contaminated in the process? Will I be able to hold my breath long enough to change out the filters in the mask with my eyes shut? Will the rubber boots and gloves make perfect seals? Will my coat seal to my pants?

The answers to all these was NO when just training on how to use them.......so it is a DEFINATE NO when running around in the desert trying to kill before being killed.

someone once said WAR IS HELL it is not supposed to be pretty, nice, and with all these nice rules.........it is death, destruction, and loss to those who "win" and even worse to those who "lose". Should we go to war......I dont know, It is not my decision to make, just my responsibility AS AN AMERICAN to support my leaders. That is what democracy is all about. We have a voted in leader and we all should support him no matter what his decison is....no matter if we voted for him or not.

like I said......just my thoughts

KS, all of those senarious you spitted out could happen, but they depend on a lot of other things happening in a certain order so it unlikely this whole situation would get very deep into your senarious. Again, you say a lot and don't back it up with evidence. Like I stated before, we won't fight in an urban warfare battle. If the Iraqi soldiers do flee for the heart of Bahgdad, we'll just wait them out. It's called seige warfare: cut off the enemies food and supplies and watch them starve.

The one thing about the war that does scare me is that Sadaam could unleash chemical or biological weapons on our soldiers. Our military isn't dumb, they know this could happen. That is why I think very little of our ground troops will be involved in this war. We've got a huge technological advantage and we are going to use it.

Emery, I live in Zachary. Where can I find one of the gas stations you mentioned that uses American oil? I don't think any of those companies have stations in Zachary and Baker.

My closing statement: We can't just sit around and do nothing about the Iraq situation, we have to do something. We are the most powerful nation on the planet and it is our responsibility to do something. So what if the world hates us? We poor billions of dollars into other countries and all we get is grief. NATO and the UN are jokes! A bunch of wanna-be super powers trying to tell big brother how to handle the neighborhood bully! Honestly, KS, how do you contain a madman? You can't. Saddam must be eliminated! Yes, there are going to be dead soldiers. But guess what? They're SOLDIERS! They volunteer to risk there lives so that the rest of us can wake up on Wednesday mornings and go about our daily business. We need to act now! The longer you wait to take out the trash, the more it smells!
