Nice gun. Every time I go into a gun store I need blinders. Otherwise I would buy some more.

I understand,it take a lot of self control sometimes. Check out Valtrousa.com or this link Custom 1911 Pistols - Jardine's Custom Handguns - 1911A1 Pistolsmith He is the master 1911 maker. There is not a better 1911 out there.

What pretty bad for me is I walk into any of the local gun shops and they all know my name. They will usually show me what they have in new. If I'm at my normal shop I have had the staff have people ask me questions about guns if the oner isn't there. I have never owned a Kimber, but have shot a few, damn fine handguns. I have a Wilson Combat CQB Tactical LE 1991A1. Love it, at the time it was one of the only .45's you could find w/ a light rail. Carried it when I was in the Marines, it's still my concealed carry pistol.

Yea I know what you mean, people call me and ask me questions.I get that too at the gun shops, the customers see you enough they know. I can not tell you how many guns I have fixed, and put back together. Some guy had a old Mauser broomhandle, that he took apart.I never held one much less put one together. He brought it in the store in pieces, and the owner could not put it back together.I figured it out in about 5 miutes it was working.I just like guns.

I dont know about a sub compact, but I think SA recently released a compact version of the XD45 that holds fewer rounds.

The XD started out by a Croation gun maker, and Springfield saw a good thing and made a deal. These are very good guns, with a nice grip safety. They use to only cost 275.oo then Springfield put there name on them and bam, 475.00 overnight.

I stopped last night after work and put another 75 rounds thru my Kimber and it was absolutely flawless. My shot placement was dead on. My grouping was 3" at 15 yds using reloads. I am gonna have to go buy factory loads and see what she really does. I also figured out that If I use a penny instead of the tool provided in the case, that I can easily remove and re-install the recoil spring plug and barrel lock. Saw that trick on a video on you tube last night and tried it. It's amazing. This morning, I sent in my survey card and $39.95 to Kimber and they are going to send me a set of Rosewood grips. Also ordered a nice ball cap while I was at it.
I must sya, buying this Kimber was one of the smartest things I've done in a long time.

Jim293....thanks for the reference to 1911 forum. I joined yesterday and it is exactly what I was looking for. My sceen name there is the same as it is here, rj8806. Look me up when you're on there. What is your screen name there?

Here is a pic of my new sidekick. Thought you might like it. Also have pic of the target I destroyed last night as well. This was at 10 yards out. I took them today at work with it sitting on my drivers seat, sorry, I left the carrying case at home as it now resides on my hip in a Don Hume OWB holster.

About a year ago, I was doing research on the Aegis II (for carry), comparing it to the Springfield EMP. I don't recall that I found any negatives on the Kimber, either as a brand or individual pieces, other than the initial cost difference... The Kimber shot very well right out of the box, where the EMP required 500+ rounds for break-in...

Hope you enjoy your new friend! Looks like you've had lots of fun so far!

I use a Glock 26 .40 sub compact for my concealed carry gun. I like the barrel length and way it fits my hand. I find it to be very accurate, when I am not having an off day. I have looked at the Kimbers a lot in the past. I have to be careful in the gun store to make sure I don't bring any more home. My wife said, no more guns or cars....for now.
