Default Rims

So here is the thing right, I want to get new rims and rubber after I get a few more power mods under my belt and I really want the rim size to be 17x9 and I am almost sure that I want some silver cobra R's but am considering going to some Mach 1 rims. Only problem is that they only come in 17x8. What do you guys think? should I give the inch up?

if you put 275's on an 8 inch wide wheel, you will have horrible traction. The max i would go is 265 on an 8 inch wide wheel.

You can fit them... but trust me, you dont want them. go 265 or 255

Go with the wheel you like the most, the 1 inch is not that big of a deal.

Well, even that one inch can have its side effects.
Go with the 9 inch wheel if you want the 275's. What style of CR's do you want to go with? I know your car would look SOOOO good with some 18x9 cobra R's. YUMMMY! Then you can go for the 275's. Or else get 10 inch wide wheels and go even wider with the tire.

Jesse (Stalkerstang) has 275/40/17 on an 8" wheel. We have not noticed any traction problems other than the normal traction problems Mustangs allready have. Cornering was very good. Tire wear was great.

Maybe i am overlooking a few things.

Thank you for all the feed back! I was looking at the AFS Cobra R's and my original plan was 10.5 in back and 8 in front but I got told that it would hurt my times and not be great on performance due to not having high horsepower.... yet. So I was looking around but I think I am going go with my original plan and get 10.5's in back I'm gonna love those big fat 315's in a 17x10.5!!! They don't have 18's so I'll stay with the 17's and lower her a bit when I get the money for suspention work. And for all ya who don't believe that you can fit a 10.5 on a 2002 V6 I am attaching a pic of 10.5's on a red 98, also a little picture for my babies!!!

i dont like photo number 3. What I dont like about it is the wheel. Those look like cheap ripoff;s of the 95 R wheel. The spokes have a completely flowing shape on the original R and most of the replicas.

Those look like some real cheap knockoffs. In fact.. I KNOW those are the bad ones. The spoke goes straight on those.

Oh well, they look good on the car, i just dont like that style of the wheel.
I am a very maticulousy picky person. dont mind me.

hey that's cool, to each his own. I kind of like the shape and plus I think it's a good package cuz they at 1500 shipped to my front door mounted and balanced. I'm going to get the dunlop sp8000 tire on it and I heard it aint that bad on grip etc. But I still have some time to look around, some how I always come back the them though.... still trying to decide what order I should get my three major things. Rims and rubber, suspention package, and morana heads, intake, rra throttle body and cam + .5 inch spacers..... decissions decissions

Pony, have you looked at Kumho tires? The Dunlop SP8000's wear super fast. You might want to take a look at a Kumho Ecsta 712, or even an Ecsta MX. Good tires.... cheap too.

They do offer the Kumho Ecsta 712 for the 10.5 inch rim but only with a 275 tire. I guess it isn't too bad of a deal. Also with the package being 200 bucks cheaper..... Hummm..... THank for the imput.
