Exclamation Help me out. May have got myself in trouble. Nissan 240SX vs. Mustang 3.8L

Talking to one of my firend in my english 1 class. His parents are about to buy him a Niissan 240SX Fastback when he gets his license. Well, he said when I get my 1999 3.8L that we should run and being a total @$$ naturally agreed without know anything about the car.

Now one of my friend in my math class said it had a four banger with 150HP. I'm not so sure about that.

So does anyone know anything about this car and will I be able to take him without much work on the car, mod wise?

They CAN be fast with some J-spec modifications, but I doubt a high school student would have that kind of cash.

The 94-98s 6s would blow 'em away.

The 240SX is a low 16 second car, the 99+ 3.8 is a high 15 second car so you got an advantage.

Dude, think about it this way, I stomped a 3000GT which has a more powerful engine than a 240, but than again it is a heavier car. My car is a 98 and at the time I only had a K&N. You having 45 more HP will have no prob beating him. I haven't had the chance to actually race a 240 though because around here its either civics, preludes, or VW's trying to race me. I think they know what'll happen with a 'stang when they're driving a 240!

I'm guessing that the 3000 GT was the base 150 HP one......

you've seen F&F right? take a look a dom's girlfriend's car. it's a nissan 240SX/Silvia

the japanese market sylvia's are hot-rodded beasts compared to the american watered-down versions.

So the 240SX is a 4 cylinder with about 155HP right?

yep. shouldn't be a problem for you to beat it.

the last generation of those things were nice cars though. i think they died out around 97 or so in america.

Japanese Domestic Manufacturer/Market (JDM or J-spec)

The 240 Sylvia had the Skyline(?) motor, or at least the 3.5Lv6 that's currently in the 350Z.

Due to some type of Japanese salvage loophole, they basically cut the car in half when they're wrecked, and ship the whole she-bang to California.

There are a lot of Sylvia conversions in California, and they are FAST.

Well, he's gonna swap the engine now. It's called a SR20 DET. Had one of my import friends tell me that it was a six cylinder making high 200 low 300 HP.
