He almost did kill himself. That back of the motor flew apart and had pieces of the motor and the block flying into his firewall. Even he said it himself. He's just lucky it did go through the firewall and into him and his passenger.

The coke nail was the passangers. He didn't seem like he had much automotive knowledge. But the guy that blew the motor up at least knew what the hell a wrist pin and a connecting rod was.
