Does anyone here have a list of cars they look for to race or want to race in the future? I am hesitant to call it a kill-list, but basically cars you would like to race and beat if possible.
I mean it seems like I always end up getting the same types of cars trying to race me Camaros, Other Mustangs, and low end imports (Celicas, Accords, Civics, Eclipses, Integras, etc. etc.)
Here's the list of cars I would like to race. Granted I'm not saying I would or even could beat some of them, but you never know they might miss a gear or two
Any newer Corvette
Subaru WRX
M3
M5
350z
Viper
Rx-7
Supra
I also wouldn't mind a rematch against a Pontiac Firehawk as he only beat me by about a car and 1/2 before, and it was the first week I had my car. I think I could do better now lol.
A Porsche 911 and 3000GT were both on that list too, but I raced both of them and beat them. The Porsche was not turbo, and I'm not sure if the 3000GT was a VR-4 or not.
I have ran across several Corvettes some acted like they would race me, but in the end none of them would race. Seen a few WRXs and 350Zs but they were not going in my direction. I've come across 2 Vipers one I could not catch up with because of a few red lights, and the other I saw while driving my SUV I came across a nice Rx-7 but unfortunately we were in my friends Celica GTS umm....yeah lol. Saw one M3 racing an Integra, but once again I was driving my SUV at the time. I've only seen a few Supras and they were all in parking lots, and I've yet to see a M5 anywhere but a dealership.
Anyone else have a list?

Oh yeah, of course. When the Coupe is completed I'll be hunting down the pathetic little machinations of the upscale car market. I'll make the list as general as possible.
EVERY Mercedes I can find
EVERY BMW I can find
EVERY Porsche I can find
Vipers, yes I would love to get my claws on one of those
ANY and all Japanese Imports
All the Audis
All the Bugatti's I can find, yes even the new one with the W-16 engine
I would absolutely love to thrash a Shelby Series 1, oh yes.. most definetly
Lets see... any and all mustangs built after 1968
Corvettes I suppose
Camaros/Trans-Ams/Firebirds, they're all the same car anyways so why not
Yeah I suppose thats my hitlist. I'll drag any car with less than 20,000 under the hood and roadrace everything else.

65Daytona, that new Bugatti would eat you up and spit you out, especially on the top end! And anyways, only by the good grace of God will we ever be able to see one on the street.

I don't know if this counts... but I'd like a re-match against the Miata I raced on the way home from work the other night...
My Chevy pickup has roughly 250 lb/ft of torque at the flywheel... the only thing that was 250 lb/anything in that Miata was the fat chick in the passenger seat!
I still shouldn't have lost, but my pickup's timing keeps shifting back and forth a few degrees (worn timing chain, getting replaced next weekend) and it shifted just enough to cause a backfire, resulting not only in a loss of power, but my decision to abort the race.

I was kidding man. I don't even know how fast my coupe will go when its finished. I haven't bothered plugging in the formula yet. It really is sad that it took 4 turbo chargers to get 1000 HP in a 3500LB car with 16 cylinders. But hey if your company has the time and money to blow, then ye-haw. At least the car looks presentable and a little original. I really hope they've done wind tunnel testing. Otherwise they could be producing less downforce than they hoped for and hit around 210 and just sort of start spinning in the air. Of course that would be the most hilarious thing I've ever seen.

Yeah, 1,000 hp could have been easily achieved in naturally aspirated form but the turbos provide low and mid-range torque that an N/A car with that much power wouldn't be able to provide. You got to look at the average power and torque, not the peak. I think they have actually taken pre-production versions of the car to over 240 mph so it should provide enough downforce for the car to be stabile at those speeds. I just think it's awesome that a street legal car will be able to achieve performance that only Indy, Cart, and F1 cars could do just a few years ago.

I just hate Turbos myself. You have to have two different sizes just to keep up with your powerband, and lets not forget the lag which means you're at a disadvantage for the first 1-3 seconds after the green flag comes down. They could have just saved themselves alot of time, and the consumer ALOT of money, and just put two super chargers on there but no.. lets make absolutely sure that only people with seven digit incomes could ever onw one. I've always seen those cars as a little silly, if not down right sad. Hence why I have hated ferrari since... 1964 or so. You know just because of this Bugatti they'll create some 2,000HP monster that runs 1,000,000 USD stock. They can't stand loosing.
Remember the silver arrows lifting off like airplanes at 115MPH? One of the greatest racers of all time was killed that way.

Well your superchargers don't have any kind of advantage ether. While SC starts building boost right away, they are not to full boost until the upper rpm range. A nice NA car could still beat SC car.
As for turbo lag, in most turbos and systems today the lag is almost nonexistent. Especially in a multi-turbo application. Heck my twins are at full boost by 2500rpm, and start building boost even lower. And that is not lagging
And before the whole supercharger/turbocharger thing starts, it has already been done.
Turbos are one of the most "misunderstood" power adders, they are almost completley superior to superchargers.
And the more modern turbos are so well engineered that LAG is really no longer a big issue, less so in V8 or larger engines since they flow enough air at low engine speeds.
Sequential twin turbos (one after the other) are now rarely used for that reason.
Just remember the Turboed F1 cars...1000 + hp from little engines:
Turbo V6 Ford, Benetton get 1000 Bhp with fuel in '87 Formula 1
1986-87
1497cc (1.5 liter!!) smaller than a VW Beetle engine.
750-1000 Bhp.
I just have a personal preferance for supers, thats all. I'm sure turbos can easily out-do them when enough research and fine-tuning is put behind them but I'll always like my blowers just a little bit more. Actually the only type I really like is the screw type used on the AJ Jaguar engines. Very effecient machine. Anyone familiar with it? It blows away the eaton-roots type. I think the figures were somewhere around 15% more average HP with a much more free-flowing movement and 8-11% more torque. Its been a while since I read up on them. And I like them more because most of the time they look better than a turbo. I'm hoping to design a screw type for my custom tuned 351w manifold but I'd need a much better CAD program. Oh well.

One on my bosses has a eclipse with a 6 banger and says he can take me out. I say lets bet our next pat check, He says he can't do that. So I say dinner, He says ok you might win in the 1/4 mile but I can take you on the street, So I say I know of two tracks we can go to and see what times we get, he says if you want power you should have gotten a V8, I say walk away before I get started and continue to repeat it until he leaves. I sooooo want to take him to the track and get my dinner.
