does anyone know how to start a car club, i have at least 6 people in the ventura area in CA that have mustangs and we are trying to start a club but we really don't know how and we don't want to steal anyone's name.
88 GT... AFR 185 heads, Holly System max upper and lower intake, E303 cam, headers, off road H, 3:73's, toms axles, BFG drag Radials, best 1/4 time 13.5 at 4000 feet elevation.
While talking to Scott would be a great idea, I think we should get everyone's opinion on what they look for in a car club. With that said, what do you all look for?
that is true what all do you look for in a club and what do you expect when joining a club

clubs are fun, but can also be a pain, I was a Sgt. At Arms for a local club for a year...that was enough, you might want to ask Ron about clubs too......
see thats what im looking for too....and also i would like to try and organize a team compitition at the track...

I would start off by looking at what do you want to do with this club. Are you going to gear it toward racing, cruising, or putting on shows. You also might want to look into starting up a Mustang Club of America regional club.
There is a club that meets up in Ventura,Tri-County Mustang Club You might want to stop by one of their meetings and see what they are up to. Let me know if there is anything I can help you out with.
If you go forward with starting your own club, then let us know. AFM will host a website for you. Good luck

hmmmm I just had a great car club name pop into mind...but I'm not going to tell because I don't want to have it stolen. Ah what the heck am I talking about its AFM! well anyway, how about a crew o' stangs called "Show stoppers". Have the 'stangs not only decked out for show, but when you pop the hood you know those suckers will go! hahahaha alright well maybe its cheesy, but its not trying to be over bearingly agressive. Just my .02
Well you need to decide the perameters of your club before you get udnerway. What qualifies you for membership etc.. I'm a member of NC's Jag club. Its very nice. Meetings, cookouts, road racing, shows, just fun little things like that. You don't even have to own a Jag to be a member, you just have to love them. An open club is probably your best bet. One where you simply have to like mustangs and be a general car guy. But owning a Mustang would definetly be a plus.

I'd look for organized cruise events, meetings, maybe a picnic...other social gatherings...something family-friendly. Expect modest annual dues to cover the cost of planning, newsletters, mailings, etc. Check out what other clubs are offering to give you some ideas. In my area, this is the one:
Maybe you don't want something quite that organized. Could be just a group of a half-dozen enthusiasts who decide to meet once a quarter to share stang stories & a couple beverages. Good luck.
