2009 AFM Mustang Meet at Whiskey Cafe, Lyndhurst, NJ • Saturday, June 27, 2009
I know this is probably going to get moved to another forum but I wasn't sure where to post this. And I know most people seem to congregate on this forum and I wanted as many to see it as possible...
I was thinking about organizing a meet....somewhere between the mid Atlantic and the Northeast area. And for anyone else that wanted to drive longer....lol.
I kind of have an itch to do some traveling and would love to take a road trip. And there are a number of people I'd love to meet up with. Would be great to see some of these great rides that people have in here in person.
I figure since I am not working right now, I have the time to try to organize something. Would keep me outta trouble....lol.
I know this is probably a longshot....but hey a 50-1 shot did win the Kentucky Derby....lol
So I thought I would float this out there.....if anyone is seriously interested let me know, and if there are enough people I will see what I can put together.

So I am thinking of probably someplace in New Jersey....so for you that would work I would think.
If there are at least 10 that are SERIOUSLY interested I'll organize something....date, location, etc
How about Thunder Park Raceway in Millville. or English town or Atco. If your thinking of a race area. I'm in. Are you talking about a 1 or 2 day get together.

This would probably be a good place for the meet. Mid state New Jersey. Talking about Thunderbolt Raceway in Millville.
As for the length of the gathering, I was just going to leave it up to each person. I would probably spend the night and head back to CT the following day.
Possibly... Depends on 2 things. One, my car actually would need to be running and, two, my work schedule (I work a fixed, very inflexible schedule).
Then I would try to find a date that would fit for those with inflexible schedules and that should work for everyone else. You definitely need to be there....I have never seen a Mustang that was basically rebuilt from the tires up.....lol.

I know my schedule from now to the end of time so I can PM you my availability.
Great idea, NJ is somewhat central for the Tri State area. Its a bit of work to organize and most places want insurance.
If its a smaller gathering you can get away with a state park, some will give permits.
Another place you might want to consider is Island Dragway in Great Meadows NJ, can use the field and strip: Island Dragway Home
We rented this a few times in my RX-7 days.

I wasn't really thinking about a "race day" type of thing at a track....I was mostly thinking of an informal meet. I think renting out a track can get rather expensive.
A state park is a nice idea too. People could come up with ideas of what we would like to do. Could be as simple as going out to lunch or dinner.

Yep track definitely gets expensive not that I'd be looking to take the V6 down it. We did Island Dragway a few years in a row, $15 a car for the field and $40 for 2 hrs of track time which was cheap.
So depending on the amount of cars/people state park would work. We also did that in Bear Mountain upstate NY and Sandy Hook NJ and had BBQ.
Be cool to check out each others cars and talk, some food and drink.
