~Sry, I had this in the V6 section, but I was hoping to attract a bit more attention before I make a case with the shop.
So at the begining of summer I had my pony converted to true duals but a shop up the street from me. We had agreed upon 400 dollars for the install, materials, and both muffler being of the flowmaster brand. As far as I could tell when I picked up the car he had held true to that arrangement. Now, I made a mistake though. I forgot to ask what type of muffler he had put on their, I was so excited about having dual exhausthttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adT...1_magglass.gif that I just drove off the lot happpy as can be.
Now 3 months later, I finally had the backside of my car jacked up so I decided to take at the mufflers just for curiosity of what they are. I noticed that the type wasn't branded on there, so I grabbed my handy laptop and punched in a the numbers on the internet and no results turned up. . . So I started getting a little weary of what was going on. Upon closer review, I noticed that the muffler didn't even say "Flowmaster" on it anywhere. I've had a Super 40 and a 50 series in the past (One originally pre dual exhaust, one on my old jimmy) and I recall both of them having the flowmaster badge on it.
My question then leads me to ask, in everyone's experience with flowmaster, do all their mufflers have the flowmaster name on them? I'm starting to worry I may have been taken a little bit by this shop. I've got no problems going up there and confronting them if so, but I may just be worrying for nothing. It's not like I don't like the sound currently, it's just I feel I should get what I paid for, right?

all flowmasters should be marked. i work at an exhaust shop and all flowmasters are branded. however there is a brand called flo pro which uses the same design and everything as flowmaster but are not marked with the logo. the are just as good but slightly cheaper.

Even if that's the case though, that's a bit misleading that I discussed using flowmaster with the mechanic and he uses the offbrand when I asked for the name brand.
The part numbers I can peel off are either S0449/SO449 or 900699. That first number could be either a Zero or an O, so I'm unsure but I googled both.

Thank you for reaffirming that, I'm gonna go find my receipt then, and go confront them after school on monday. Like I said, I like the sound, but it's the point of the matter.
*EDIT* I found the recipt, and it says "Turbo" muffler. Now when i first got that i didn't think much into it, figured that was like a Flowmaster 40 or 80, etc. Just a surname. Now when I told the receptionist, the shop owner, and the mechanic working on my car I wanted a flowmaster. . .How the heck do I end up with off-brand?

Basically how it turned out was he insisted that one of his employee's or himself had to have told me that they where knock offs, but he guarantee's they are identical to the real deal! Looking at the recipt, it clearly says on there Turbo Muffler on there so I can't do much about it. It's just my word versus his. I know there is no way he told me that though, it's my fashion to get top of the line anything when it comes to my car, and if someone would have said to me knock-off's, or any similar word I would have said how much for the real deal then?
I think I'll just go ahead and order up a real set of flowmasters. It's just a pride thing. I pay so much for all my filter's, I spent god knows how much on other parts just to get name-brand top of the line, and it'll just continue to bug me if I don't get it fixed. Plus, I wouldn't mind a little more aggressive of a tone anyway

Sounds like Thrush Turbo Mufflers. Very smililar to sound compared to flowmasters. They are not really 'knock offs' just not well known as flowmaster.

His word was knock off, not mine personally, but yeah. I've been kinda wanting my car to have a bit louder of a growl under acceleration anyway so I may swap out for a set of Super 44's and have the noise front taken care of.
