in the restaurant business, servers don't get paid minimum wage, they usually get between 2 and 2.50 an hour, the company assumes that the tips and gratuity will make up for the other 4 bucks an hour for minimum wage.

Yea, and usually on busy nights you can well exceed that tax-free take home pay.

At Giovannis, I got paid 5.25 an hour, plus tips, plus mileage. The most I ever made was like $190 in one day working from noon to close (1:00 AM). Good pay, but I can't stand working for a food place.

I delivered for Round Table for awhile, I made $5 an hour, plus .75 per delivery plus tips. It helped being a girl, I made 5x as much as the guys....over $500 during the Superbowl!

I don't think alot of people even have a clue to what servers make hourly. They just act like it's no big deal to stiff a server.
I go 15% min. and 20% for good service. I've gone as high as 25% a few times for servers that were awsome.

We get icecream at Friday's occasionally and usually tip like 30% just because our bill is never that high. But i mean ive been to really nice restaurants, and my girlfriend always gets iced tea and drinks a lot while eating. So we both had empty drinks one time at a nice restaurant eating our meal the WHOLE time, and didnt get our bill til like 15 min after we were done eating and still were thirsty. I tipped 10% but really didn't feel like tipping at all.
