i got a 1984 Mustang G.T. 350. Its got a 302 with a 5 speed all stock. It doesn't have the power you guys are prolly used to lol. but it does ok with the tuners. there was only 587 made with a convertable which i have. would you guys bump up the power and possibly take away the value in the future?
Personally for me, I would likely keep it stock for collectibility....but if you love the power, modify for the power, just keep you stock parts for later, in case you change your mind to go back to stock.
Did you buy the car to sit on it or drive it? Sure it might be worth something someday but, are you ever going to have the heart to sell it?
I wouldn't hesitate to modify it if it was mine.

I am the original owner of a 1970 'Cuda that is all stock and original. My 'Stang is modified. I enjoy showing the 'Cuda, but the 'Stang is a hell of a lot more fun to drive. I sometimes i wish I wasn't the original owner and the 'Cuda was not stock, because I can NEVER sell or modify it. Sometimes the thought of selling her and getting a new modern muscle car passes through my mind, but I know it will never happen.
talking to the wrong guy here. Look at my ba#tard abomination. Only 2500 or so made of it, but I built mine for FUN!!
If fun is driving around showing bone stock 84 then more power to ya. Would think if a 65 or 45 or 23 you might have something, but 84, not that far back really. How special really? So many fox bodies folks fail to see the nuance between them.
Dude, just have fun with it. Go fast, scare yourself.

As Mrvandermev said, go nuts with the thing to your hearts content, just keep all the stock parts available should in the future you decide you want to turn it into a show car. I've modded my six for fuel efficiency, but still have every stock piece still available.

I've never looked at a car as an investment. Unless you can part with it solely for a good sum of cash I would mod it and enjoy it. If it's not your daily driver you could even consider doing a concours resto on it and start rackin' up the trophies at shows! People really appreciate the older stangs in pristine looking condition at shows.

Thanks guys. As we all have mentioned, it is yoru car, make it your own. I DID buy my 2005 Mustang GT vert to be a fair weather driver in stock condition. For, although my stang is not as rare as yours, it was 1 of 549 built that year, and 1 of 13,000 Mustang GT verts.....my original plan was to kepe it stock, but as everyone here knows, my car is..um...er..."less than stock"....and now it is 1 of 1. Yes, should I feel the need sometime down the road to have a completely stock 2005 Mustang GT vert...I just happen to have all the stock parts in the garage.
It's a FOX, I wouldn't count on it being worth a lot of money in the future.
Unless it is in "show room floor" condition as we speak, it probably won't be worth much in the next 20 years.
No one can really tell if it's going to be worth a lot or not. But I am 95% sure that the only FOX body Mustangs that will be worth much in the future are the ones that are bone stock, VERY low miles, and the paint still looks new.
Do what you wish to it. Afterall it is YOUR car.

a car is going to depreaciate in value. unless it is stock, has insanely low miles, and has pristine paint. so unless your car has under 20K miles and has the other two prerequisites, and you dont feel like driving it for the next 20 years, then i suggest doing what you want with it. if you want more power, then by all means go for it. i buy cars to drive them, not to let them sit in a garage so i can sell them 40 years from now.

Ooops...I got two out of three....pristine paint and VERY low miles.....but not quite "just stock."
