Dodge isn't going anywhere. Fiat has announced that the trucks will become their own seperate division (RAM brand), Dodge will be the performance division, and Chrysler will shoot high end, with Fiat finally being able to get into the US.
The Impala has been around since 1958. The vette since 1953. I heard that some Jeeps are going as well do to poor sales. The fiat 500 is named that because of it's 500cc motorcycle engine. Squeeze a busa engine in it and we're talking although I'm not sure how I'm squeezing in it. I rode in them in the early 70's. They are mundane point A to point B cars. Alfa Romero is also coming stateside. Chrysler needs the Japanese to buy it so that all former axis powers can have a hand at fixing the unfixable.
The Fiat 500 of the 70's and the Fiat 500 of today cannot be compared. The Abarth version comes with a 1.4l 4 cylinder making 135hp and only weighing about 2200lbs. I could have some fun with that!

I heard they are going to announce next week the plans. I agree, probably keep the Ram and minivans too. As for them going away altogether....remember Plymouth, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Saturn, ? It can happen

What intrigues me about this is Alfa Romeo coming back.... and the likely first car sold here will be the MiTo small call and honestly I want a closer look as I'll need small, comfortable commuter car.... the Fusion that I split time with belongs to my brother so I'll lose use of that car. It isn't just a small, dull runabout, it actually looks good, has flair and has something Alfa Romeo calls the 'DNA' System, it's basically an adjustible suspension that has 3 basic settings- Race, Enthusiast and Comfort. Plus in Europe it's cheap, yet sporty. Here's some pics. It's the red one.
However, Ford has something I'd really want and use across the pond, it's the Ford Focus RS, and what a car that is! Top Gear (specifically Jeremy Clarkson) loves this car, with good reason.... it has a turbocharged 5 cylinder that pumps out about 300 horsepower....... it's the blue one..... it's even the shade of blue I want!

Yeah I would pretty much kill for a Focus RS. That thing would be so much fun!

The Focus RS does 0-60 in under 6 seconds, pretty good BUT it's top speed is 172 MPH!
Ummmm, pocket rocket, lol. The only negatives are it's front wheel drive only and so far in Europe the only colors are blue, white and a nuclear lime green (this car isn't meant to be subtle) and the seats have trim that match the exterior paint. Also it's as subtle as a punch to the face with it's over the top body work, it's not ugly or too ricey, just over the top. Maybe if did import it they could tone the bodywork down a notch. Speaking of which..... read this:

Ford is the only American Brand i trust to stick around in the next 5 years.
The chevrolet and chrysler names are not going any where, not in 5 years any way. The companies will reincorporate and cut major brands before they fold and the last names to go will be those two.
as for the gmac thing, a large portion of chrysler was bought by cerberus about 16 months ago. cerberus also has a huge chunk of gmac.
nice focus, but the wheels are WAY too big for me to even consider it...
i heard that, on the "gm and chrysler competition fun factor" i def. miss that too...
but unless all 3 of our american cars have a big turn around for the average buyer, ford is doing pretty good however, soon only taxis/cop cars etc. will be the only american cars on the road... way too many ppl have all the faith in the world about a foreign car... and well that will make an eventual doom for american automakers moral of the story, GET ALL YOUR FRIENDS TO BELIEVE AMERICA CAN STILL MAKE A GOOD CAR!!!
especially the ford focus(all the models none the less)
