I have an Ovation Celebrity Deluxe CS-257, and for some reason, the intonation on just the G string is flat at the 12th fret as compared to the open note. From what I understand the bridge would have to be moved towards the neck to bring the 12th fret G note to the correct pitch. Only thing is the bridge is wired from underneath for the pickup and also comes pre made as being compensated. Anything I can do to bring the contact point of the bridge any closer to the neck? It seems to be as far up as it can go.

not sure, but i had a similar problem with an Ibanez GAX-70, i solved it by filing down the fret-bar on the next note. I'm not sure why this worked out, but my cousin told me to do it, and it worked. Lol.
I took all the strings off today and played with the shims under the bridge, and even put the G string back on with the ball end horizontally compared to all the others in hopes of moving the string in closer towards the neck, but my efforts were in vane, for when I tuned my guitar back up the G was still terribly flat at the 12th fret.

can you adjust the head of yours?? on my fender affinity strat i can adjust where my head is at with an allen wrench... as im just beginnin, im not entirely sure what the purpose is, but its just a thought... i got a lil hole in the center at the top of my fret board... not sure if this helps, but its an idea...
could u possibly need a new set of strings?? how long have you had it?? i find it terribly peculiar that you mention its only at the 12th fret... as far as i understand it, one of our moderators here, jim293 i think is like a pro, so hopefully he chimes in to be a lil more helpful

Check for a bowed neck and adjust the tension rod if it is off.
1) Hold the 6th string E between the nut and 1st fret with your left hand. With your right hand hold the string against the fingerboard at the 13th fret.
2)With a feeler guage, check the clearance between the bottom of the string and the top of the 5th fret.
3) Clearance should be a minimum of .005" to .015". It should not be more than
.032" or the neck has a "warped" condition and has to be adjusted.
4) Check the 1st E string the same way. If either E string touches the 5th fret the neck is "bowed" and has to be adjusted.
If the neck is good, then try filing down the fret bar one down.

good info fastback65, if i ever run into this issue, could i use my capo on the first fret, and hold the say 13th fret in this case, with my right hand and use the feeler guage with my free hand lol??
cuz i dont see how i would set up the feeler guage if both hands are holding the string down on either side fret
so all in all a capo should work right??

Well, I guess you could do that. Or you probably need a hand when you do this procedure. I'm usually helping so I wasn't thinking.

Hey thanks for the responses guys, the G string isn't only flat on the 12th fret but as it creeps up into that area it starts to go out of tune.
The neck feels fine, no buzzing on the other frets so I don't think I need a truss rod adjustment.
This is tough with acoustic guitars because the bridge is a solid fixed piece, unlike an electric, typically, each string has it's own adjustment for height and intonation.
If it was sharp, I could file the bridge back and change the contact point away from the neck, but it needs to go the other way only I'm at my limit for travel in the other direction.

Seagull Guitars...they're made by Godin I believe aren't they? Either way they look like nice guitars too. This Ovation I have is just one of 5 guitars, my others are:
-Yamaha F-310 TBS Acoustic
-Yamaha CG-100S Classical
-Yamaha RGX-121S Electric (kinda looks like an Ibanez)
-Fender Telecaster (Mexican)
The ovation was the one I decided to take with me while I'm away from home for college, I'd like to get a Gibson SJ-200 Jumbo someday, they sound sweet too.
