That's a shame. That's also why there are laws regarding 15 year olds driving. Sounds like alcohol was involved as well. Could have happened to anyone of us that ever made some bad choices as kids. I pray for his parents.

That's horrible. Last year I had a friend who went to a different high school than me. He died when his 1989 fox body Mustang slammed into a retaining wall.

It was quite interesting actually. I was as school at the time it was on the news, and of course I was in Oliver (the 66). Apparently, my mum couldn't stop crying and everybody was calling to give their condolances. At the time, all the news was saying was that a 17 year old high school senior died when his classic Mustang slammed into a retaining wall as the student left school. I got home about 20 minutes after it happened and everyone in my house just started screaming and crying. What's really creepy is that all our friends said we could have been twins too. RIP Joey.

Here is a news article about it with a video on the right.

Oh my goodness, how sad. People don't realize that accidents affect not only 1 person but several, a wave effect - sadly. Just tragic.

15 years old and mature enough to have the responsibility of driving, they're still babies in my eyes.

When I was 13 it was usual to start driving at that age. Yes, illegal and by yourself or hauling family and friends where they needed to go. It was a different time.

If the parents had given the 15 year old access to a 9MM and it accidentally went off and killed someone would they be held liable?

Explain how the parents did not know a car they owned was out after midnight?

I'm sure the prosecutor involved will find all the answers long after the sensationalism is over.

just another reason we all need to play safe, and not involve anyone ELSE when we are messing around with our cars.... i, as a rule, NEVER mess around with anyone in my car anymore... i realized one night i almost killed the girl of my dreams in my passenger seat and since that day i NEVER ever will mess around unless im the only one around and im the only one in the car... i will torque it up with friends, but NEVER lose traction...

its very tragic and i hope that one ACCIDENT dont lead to thousands of rules and regulations...

No seatbelt and travelling at a high rate of speed... what a shame. As he's no longer with us that's a safety lesson he'll never learn. I feel bad the family.
