Hello all! My name is Mandi Livingston and I represent a non-profit
organization called Street S.M.A.R.T.S.(Sports Machines Against Racing on The Street). I would like to extend the offer to you to come over and join us on our mission. We promote and encourage people to "Take it to the track" instead of handling their business on the street. We, the founders of this program, lost two very close friends in an accident that was related to street racing, and we don't want to let it happen to anyone else. So if you are interested in joining our mission, or would like more information, then please come over to http://www.StreetSmartsUSA.org to see what we are all about. The site is still under construction somewhat as we are still finalizing some details about member benefits, participating sponsors and tracks. Also, we have our own forums at http://streetsmartsforum.org/. Feel free to register and join in discussions with automotive enthusiasts from everywhere! We hope to see you there!!!

People get in more wrecks driving to work than in street racing.. I 2nd Fast1's post "whatever".. I know this thread will prolly flare up but street racing is never really gonna be stopped.. You're never gonna see an MTV True Life- I race at the tracks.. This is my 1 and only post in this thread. I'm done
We don't. But it's been brought up so many times people are starting not to care. Just because smoking weed is illegal doesn't mean people aren't gonna do it.
I can honestly say street racing is bad, but when people don't have to pay to get MANY runs and can race many different cars then going to the track and being lined up with whatever car they get chosen to race isn't as good as going on the street and finding a car you wanna destroy.

You mean to tell me that someone can dump thousands of dollars into a car to race then not have the money to go to the track? I'm not talking about stoplight to stoplight racing, almost everyone has done that, but full out drag racing on a street in town no less is rediculous. It doesnt cost a whole lot to go, and plus you have time slips to show you are not full of B.S. if you tell someone you times. I know what you are saying about this subject being mentioned a lot but all he was trying to do was shine a little light on what happens in those situations. And I know if I am going to be full out racing then it would be nice to know there are paramedics standing by just in case rather than a bunch of people who are goin to get in there cars and leave so they dont get in trouble for street racing. I live about 20 minutes from St. Louis and I can listen to the scanner in the morning or the radio and yes there is usually a wreck every morning, but a lot of these are not full out 70-80 mph wrecks. I usually let these kind of posts go but what the hell. Have a good day.

It may not stop people but we won't know unless we try.
As far as a subject being beaten to death, well something worthy should be talked about.
As you can may have guessed from my avatar, I'm in Emergency Services, I've seen the results, pulled the kids from the cars, seen the family and friends, not to mention the innocent victims of someone elses stupidity. It's not a pretty sight!!!
But when the first responses were so negative, you can understand the reason for my second post. I was brought up if you can't say something good say nothing.
This is the only site, that I have seen this posted on that got any negative reponses.
The site owners may not condone it, but from a couple of the responses, some members do.
The only reason I posted it, is it's a good cause, not to get into a debate.

Well, it's $20 to run at any of the now THREE tracks within 25 miles of my house, but you'll end up waiting 2-3 hours just to get your first run in because the places are so crowded, and there's no guarantee of getting a 2nd run in.
That $20 could buy:
10 gallons of 93 Octane gasoline
2 sets of Autolite Plugs
1 set of Bosch 8mm plug wires for a V8 engine
20 double cheeseburgers at McDonald's
a K&N filter-cleaner kit
any of a dozen cool accessories for your car that may not necessarily add speed (such as chrome alternator pulley/fan/bracket)
Any of those things could be purchased and eaten/installed/filled in LESS time than it'd take for me to even get TO the starting line after getting to the track. So tell me, is it worth paying $20 for all that sitting on your ass? Sure as hell isn't for me. THAT is why I went back to street racing.
Want a new definition of excitement?
(Finding out that the hot chick you picked up in the track parking lot on your way to go street-racing is the track-owner's daughter!)
