I went out for a drive today and found myself cruising past the local Ford dealership to see what they had and noticed a Taurus SHO. I was intrigued so I pulled in to check it out. I looked at the sticker price and my jaw hit the floor. They are asking $44,000 for it! This just seems ridiculously high. It seems like a good car but I don't know if its that good. I didn't get to drive it or anything as the dealership was closed. I'm planning on swinging by there after work on Monday if I get off early enough to take a closer look at it.

Just wait two years they'll be had for $20K with under 5 thousand miles on the odometer. Just like the revival of the Thunderbird, it sputtered out, BUT if I was a millionare I'd be scooping up Pristine under 100 mile New Edge T-Bird's in all colors and putting them in a humidity controlled garage, mark my words if we're still around in 30 years that car will be a Hot auction item!
I have read up on the New SHO motor, pretty cool stuff!!
it's a luxury sedan. so if you want a business car and bmw's aren't your thing then it's perfect.
I guess I still have a hard time picturing the Taurus as a luxury sedan.

It does seem expensive, but remember what this car is. The SHO isn't like our Mustangs, it isn't a road blazing muscle car. It's an executive car. The idea with this Taurus SHO is take on Mercedes, Audis and BMW's. The 'lesser' models will compete with the Nissan Maxima (no longer a 4 door sports car) the ailing Toyota Avalon (quite literaly a hunk of junk) and anything else in that class. Sure it's fast, but it's also sophisticated, comfortable and uses advanced technology. It isn't a midsize car anymore, that would be the Fusion now, it's a fullsize car- Ford's flagship sedan. Plus, wouldn't you rather have the SHO over a Lexus GS350, or a GS430? HELL YEAH! I want to drive one myself, but around my neck of the woods, I haven't seen a SHO, the SEL's and Limited are starting to crop up in parking lots and on the road (good!) also I haven't seen one at the Ford dealership where I work.... yet.
That being said, I hope this Taurus will be a sucess like the original 1986 model was at that time. Time will tell.

The Ford Taurus SHO is an expensive car but when compared to the cars in its class you would not call it pricey. Plus it has a lot to offer with that V6 tt. Very good mileage compared to one of the competitors generally having V8s.
All and all, different kind of car then the race inspired V8 Stangs.
Ok well maybe my preconceived notions about the Taurus were wrong then. I was still thinking of it as the midsize economy sedan of the past I guess. I'll go check it out Monday and let y'all know what I think.

I had remembered hearing they would sell for 37K. I think dealers are ruining it like they do on many cars. The SVT raptors should be called Rapetors after the dealerships slap their add on sticker proclaiming "market value adjustment"....Bull. Ford already builds a nice profit into the M.S.R.P. I will not buy a car with an add on sticker. They can keep their "fair market adjustment" along with their 999 buck "appearance protection package" (wash and wax?).

A month ago I saw one in person at a car show and yesterday I saw one on the road. They defiantly look worth the $40k. One thing that surprised me is that they are HUGE. It is a full sized car now, not that little scooter that the old 90's model was.

Idk, that's alot of money. Don't get me wrong it's a sweet ride but for the most part the type of person in the market for a taurus is not likely the one who is looking for the bad a$$ performance car. They just want the comfort not the horsepower, that's where I think they're going to mess up with the SHO and it will be discontinued within 2 years, hopefully I'm wrong.............

Yeah that surprised me too. I'm 6'1" and the rear deck lid came up to my chest! It just massive. It is a good looking car. I'll have to drive it to tell if its really worth that much money.

Even in the mid-40K range, that car is a steal when held up against it's competition in the market.

yyyep look at the audi's that are equivalent... its the AWD that they feel is worth all that cash... but i dont see how ANY car is worth 44k... you could build up my 98GT to have AWD for less than 44k...including the price of buying my car...
