I agree to a point with countymounty, but ONLY a point…. ;-)
When I go to a car show, if someone has a brand new car, they had better have done something special to it that would distinguish it from that same car sitting on the Dealer’s Showroom Floor. But to me, this could be a unique paintjob with new rims, tinted windows, etc. Just parking a brand new car in a carshow only shows me the pride you have in your BANK ACCOUNT, after all, that is all it took to get that car. And if I wanted to se that, I would go to my favorite dealer and browse their showroom. (The only exception to this would be if the carshow was doing a retrospective and showed each of the cars and their changes up through the years.)
At car shows though I like all years of cars…. Heck and all types. I like to see either well maintained older cars, or customized newer ones. It does not matter to me. And I never “diss” a car owner for showing his/her car… but I WILL make a comment about bad attitudes. And to be honest, I have seen worse attitudes by some of the folks I have seen SHOWING at some car shows than those who came to view them…… unfortunately.
When me and the Mrs went to last year’s NH Mustang Club Car Show we decided to “show” our car too… just for the heck of it. And we won 2nd place in its class. Mind you that this is a daily driver and no “special attention” was given to it before we went to the show… or even AT the show. We just keep it as nice as we can… ALL the time. It made our son VERY proud. We take great pride in our car and are always getting comments on how “clean” it is and how folks didn’t realize it was a 94. (Now we have things to take care of because it was hit this spring… DAMN IT!)
But not once did anyone make a comment about what folks were suppose to be judging when passing my car. And at most car shows I go to, it is about the “spirit” of the show.
…… sorry, I got going there….. well, back to my coffee….
