I thought this was funny. lol WVU was on the front page of the USA Today because of all the riots last year during and after the Virginia Tech (our biggest rival, which happon to be leaving the Big East this year) game.
Just read some letters to the editor in the student ran newspaper here on campus. As you all can guess, we (WVU Students) rushed the field and tried to take down the goal post only to get pepper sprayed and beaten by the police. Here's the best one of the four.
Officials are lying to students
I am outraged after reading many stories across the Internet about teh events after WVU win. I don't want to draw attention away from the football team, who played an amazing game and were just better prepared and coached than VT. But I am tired of being lied to by WVU Officials.
To say students rushing the field were trying to rip up the turf is ludicrous. I don't know how someone would try to do that, let alone when hundreds of rushing fans are running right beside him.
And to say pepper spray was a lastresort: bullcrap. I wastched the postgame FESTIVITIES as teh crowd reshed the field. Then I saw state troopers immediately turning pepper spray on the students. I don't understand. WVU let students rush the field after the BC game last year, which wasn't that big of a win, but won't let the students go on the field after the biggest win in Mountaineer history? I am ashamed of the university staff and officials.
I was ashamed to go into work today and have people ask if things were as bad as they seemed. I was there last year and I know how much exaggeration the University puts in their comments. What a shame. What a bunch of lies.
I am sick of WVU trying to make the students out to look as bad as criminals to the nation. If Hardesty and his staff don't like the students at WVU, then LEAVE. Quit. No one will stop you. We will probably halp you pack you bags and find a better place, if one exists.
On a final note, the next time I come to a WVU game, I am going to boo as much as I can, when warranted. And if I see President Hardesty or anyone on his staff, you can believe I'm gong to boo as loud as I possibly can. Will that make me look immature or as though I have no class? We'll see when the crowd joins in.
LET'S GO, MOUNTAINEERS! 8-4 isn't too far away!!
That was a good game. I was proud of the Hoopies the way they dominated those back-stabbers. I'm hoping to make it down to Motown for the Pitt game.
Hail to Pitt!

Just giving ya a hard time Mike.
How about 'Hail to Fitz' instead? That one still works. At least we still have a winning record.
Question: Will you guys still burn couches when you lose to Pitt?

Good Luck in Conference USA Herd boy! You'll need it paying all those travel bills to Texas (can't drive to those games, can you) and the like in all those so-called "Olympic" sports, not to mention, baseball, girl's basketball, volleyball, soccer and the like.
I really wished you were really coming to the Big East show we could just beat you guys regulary and all this green stuff would go away.
I root for the Herd, don't get me wrong, I don't really see why they two can't co-exist.
Marshall will always be the baby brother to the rest of the state though, it's just perceptions.
It would be an absolutely great rivalry though. It would always sell-out, especially in that little stadium in Huntington!

were not going to C-USA just yet. it was approved by our people. now there is some other political BS that has to happen. i hope this move will bring in some better athletes that wouldnt want to play for a MAC school. i see it as a step up, were trying to improve. yes, i would love to see marshall and WVU play. tickets would be sold out, parking would be scarse, if any. i think we can agree to dissagree on who we think would win, lol, and i hope that greg doesnt see this, b/c i KNOW my PM box will be full here shorty.

You know it Kyle. lol What's Marshall's stadium hold? 38,016 according to the website. WVU holds 63,500, so your 38,016 MIGHT hold our student's section. If WVU sells 38,000 tickets, it's against an team we're supposed to kill, like Central Flodia or Rutgers two years ago. We won't come to Marshall because it would be a bad financial decision for us. Also, the last time WVU and Marshall played, WVU won by two touchdowns, and you had Pennington AND Moss, and we didn't have that great of a team!! What's up with that then?
