 Fun Ford Weekend
Hey Team.
I just got back from the Fun Ford Weekend in Gainesville, FL. Brought to you by the fine people at Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords. I can sum it all up in 1 word. Awesome, Terrific, Extravagant. Doh! thats 3. Well so I cant, but it was just that awesome! There was everything from classics to moderns. Compacts to trucks. It had everything. I took many pictures of the car show event. Quite a few SN95's a few classics, and even a lightning. They had the new models out. The 03 Cobra, Mach 1, and T-bird. If they didnt have the "no drool" signs on em, they'd be aquatic as well.
Now, the drag racing was an excellent event. The weather was just fine during this, kind of overcast but still pleasant. The bracket racing and true streets were sweet. Competitors from all around the country were there, including a 96 cobra rag top who had a nice sounding engine but sounded like an alternator bearing was going.... until he stomped on it and fired the turbos up! Also there was a truck there that shot a 5 foot nitrous purge from his hood. The biggest "OH MY GEEZ" came from a drag truck running bracket that set his time at 10.68 and ran exactly that. not even a millisecond off.
The big uh-oh was a fox that had a great launch tires up and everything, but a loud boom and it was all over 30 feet from the starting line. The smell of oil and we knew he blew his engine. A rod was lost. bearing cap gone. It was horrible.
All in all, it was a great event. I am defintely going next year and will cover that as well. Perhaps I can even get a few interviews up of the winners. I took quite a few pictures and will be posting them as soon as I can get them scanned. I have the pics and will try to scan in Thursday. Stay tuned and do try to make it next year. Its like disney land for the Mustangers. |
