Did I read that release correctly? I think it said there aren't going to be ANY 2005 Cobras! I wasn't sure financially, but I was going try like H*ll to get my hands on one of the new 2005's in a conv. Cobra. AM I going to have to "settle" for a GT?

From what I have heard they will have a 05 cobra, and possibly a Shelby but they wont release until late in the production run for the year, the v-6 model is supposed to put out 205 Hp and 305 to 310 Hp fot the GTs, don’t expect them to be very fast though they are having some trouble with the weight issue, this is one fat pony…….(I do love the looks)

So , let me get this straight…..your Honda has 1.6 liters, whereas my bottle of Mountain Dew has 2?
Change…..it’s what is left after taxes.
- Shaken....Not Stirred 2003 Mach I Auto Torch Red - Sold
-1988 Ford Mustang GT Convertible, 331 Trick Flow Stroker with a Tremec 3550....oh yea and a 1.6 liter V-TECH motor to work the convertible top.
- 1966 Inline 6……..the pile of parts car!
well that just means that we'll all have to put the new pony's on a diet. you know get rid of the backseats, any usless hunks of metal, etc. What do you think those new ponys would run if they weighed as much as a fox body?
Dunno what they would run. But i heard no 2005 Cobra.
This is probably a rumor....but i heard in 2006 they are trying to bring back the 5.0 engine and make the Cobras a 5.0 N/A with around 380 hp.....i am probably wrong, but that would be cool

My sources, and the articles I've read in the mags, say there will not be an '05 Cobra. There will be an '06 Cobra. Again, according to the sources.
The 5.0l block is completely different than the 5.0l block of old. It is based on the modular block. There are some pics of a "Cammer" engine going around. This is the new 5.0l style block/engine. Originally found in the FR500 test vehicle.
I think I read somewhere that a N/A engine assembly with computer and harness was in the $12K to $14K range. 400 N/A horsepower. It's only money right?
"Ford Motor Co. is killing its high performance SVT Focus coupe next year and suspending production of the entire Special Vehicle Team lineup for the 2005 model year, the company said Friday.
"It will hurt us," said Dean Sellers, general manager of Dean Sellers Ford in Troy. "But it won't be devastating."
Ford's next scheduled model year for SVT products will be 2006. But its lineup - the Mustang Cobra and F-150 Lightning - will be based on new platforms and offer increased levels of performance."

Yup there is actually no SVT program at all for 05 while they get the new Lightning and Cobra ready. The Focus is discontinued Remember that 2005 will be the year of the Ford GT.
