3 arrested in theft of Mustang parts
Three men were arrested Friday on suspicion of stealing high-performance Ford Mustang parts valued at $300,000 from a Corona business and selling them on the Internet, police said.
Police received a tip Friday and found several thousand dollars' worth of the stolen property at a home on Eaton Street. More parts were found in a trailer in Mira Loma. Three men from Corona, Riverside and Rancho Cucamonga were arrested, said Sgt. Jerry Rodriguez.
Sometime around Thanksgiving, the Mustang parts were stolen from BBK Performance Parts in the 500 block of Cardiff Street.
Soon afterward, high-performance parts were spotted on an Internet auction site, said Rodriguez.
On Dec. 10, Corona police served a search warrant in the 1100 block of Keller Street in Riverside. Several thousand dollars' worth of BBK products were found. More parts were found in a storage locker in Riverside, as well as a methamphetamine drug lab, said Rodriguez. At that time, two Riverside men were arrested.
All five men were arrested on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy, possession of stolen property and operating a chop shop. They are being held at the Robert Presley Detention Center. Bail for each has been set at $300,000.
BBK Performance is offering a $5,000 reward for the recovery of the rest of the stolen property and conviction of any additional suspects.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Kurt Yinger at (909) 736-2350.
