Smile 1995 Mustang, Seeking feedback, newbie.

Hi, I'm a newbie, and I like the 95 Mustangs, and I've found one I'm considering buying. It's a GT convertible, Laser Red, with a Tan Top, 5.0\302, 5 speed manual, leather interior. I'm asking for general feedback\opinions on this particular year, make, and model. What are some of the known problems, what should I look out for or be aware of, etc, for this specific model?

Mickey,

the 1994-95 stangs come equiped with the 5.0 V8 engine (GT's anyway) and have a factory HP rating of 215. I once owned a 95 laser red as you describe...and I miss it terribly! It handled great, and in my opinion the GT seats in the 95 were the best factory seats yet (I dont like the ones in my 2001 GT that much) Known problems? um, im sure there is a recall list, search google for that. only problem I ever had out of mine was the fan motor going out, and the power drivers seat motor going out, both at around 85k Miles..

Hope this helps.

Hi, and thanks for the reply. I was just wondering if there were some real well known gotcha's that one should be aware of for the 95 model's. I'm a long time fan and maybe a first time buyer. I'm going to drive and inspect the vehicle in detail tomorrow. I'll be digging through the forums for info tonight.

Cheers

I have a 95 and the biggest recalls were as follows: Fan recall (switch may burn out and car can overheat), Hood check, sometimes on 94/95 the hinge on the hood can split they would replace and paint or reseal if bad. Seat belt tensioner and parking brake. Never noticed any problems, they just had a recall. All in all, not bad. Enjoy the car. When you get the VIN number Ford can check and see if everything was done. It's free of charge, no matter the year. Enjoy.

nice choice, man! :thumbsup i would definately go for it it its in good shape. I have a 94 GT (which is pretty much the same as that one) and the only problem i noticed is the power seat on the driver side has a hard time moving back and foward. i wouldnt even mess with that if my stepdad didnt drive it and hes a lot shorter than i am. i havent had any other problems out of it and im pushing 155,000 miles! im rebuilding the engine soon though. if you have the plans for mods , i suggest gears, intake, or exhaust first (if its not modded already). but neway, thats just my 2 cents. Good luck with the car man!!!

Hi Mickie, I'm new to this site too. Just saw your post and am an owner of a white 95 Cobra. I have approx. 144 k miles on it and love it. Here's things I would look into. Check with the seller for paperwork to see what's been done to it. Get after market parts, when possible - much cheaper. I have a standard and the clutch in it, even replaced, is a nightmare in traffic. There's a way you can have the clutch plates loosened, so if it's a stick, you might want to look into that, if a daily driver and experience the same issue. I think it was just the 95 V8's though that had that with the clutch. I've only had to replace more major things, in addition to the recalls mentioned. Do a carfax on it before buying it. It's worth it to find out if it's been in any major accidents. Other thatn that, Go 4 it! Good Luck to you. Oh, I did modify the exhaust system on mine - gets more hps with mods.- Mary
