The road in question is a four-lane urban road and is a main North-South artery along the lakeshore. There is no barrier in the middle. The car that struck the minivan was travelling too fast when it went around a bend and crossed the center line into the oncoming lane.
Come to think of it, Interstate 90 in Cleveland takes a 90 degree turn as you approach Lake Erie. You go from 70 to 35. It's funny to see all of the scars on the concrete barrier left from vehicles taking the turn too fast. You have plenty of warning that the speed is changing - signs with flashing lights, rumble strips - but people still manage to screw it up. |
