It is getting harder and harder for me to find new rock songs/groups. In the Atlanta area you can find classic rock stations, a few pop stations, a few C&W, and alot of rap. I can't seem to find a good station that introduces new rock groups/songs. MTV seems to play only rap (I don't think I saw any rock on the MTV award show a few nights ago [but I did keep flipping stations since I'm not a rap fan]).
As a rock musician/songwriter myself I think 'music' is dying as a whole. The entertainment industry now provides the public with entertainers not musicians. I feel rock is taking the biggest hit because you can't pull someone off the street and make a band. A lot of work, talent and friendship are required within a band to make good music. But all it takes is an attractive karaoke singer and some dancers to make millions for the record companies today.
I live, eat and breathe music, even more than mustangs, and I can't even turn on a radio or buy a CD anymore. I’m only really listening to older stuff now, bands that most people haven’t even heard of, music that has some sustenance to it.
But this has happened before and things are bound to turn around. You can only produce so much crap before it doesn't sell anymore.
ya, i fell you guys. i'm a young guy and lately i've been haveing problems finding good new rock. i kind of like The Darkness. but i have really started to become annoyed at how stupid rick these rap stars are getting from the public. it is everyday people we see that made them that way. but don't get me wrong, i do like some old school rap. and some new stuff here and there. but the mojority of it has started to fall.

Yeah there are no new bands with the staying power of say Aerosmith and Metallica these days. They are all a flash in the pan with maybe 3 megahits at most. Although I will say I think Velvet Revolver has a good chance at it. Look at who makes it up and that's why.

Go to see The Dead. You'll see the real deal. But yes it's getting bad .....and yes it will change.
It always does.

Got to hunt down the college stations, and if you have access to the digital cable channel 'Fuse', it does some good stuff on new and emerging bands. Lot's of really good bands never make the commercial scene, and indie stations like the colleges are the only place you'll ever get a chance to hear them. Thats what I love about the internet, once you find a band you like, no matter how obscure, you can find them on the net and get ahold of their stuff.
Mainstream music has pretty much been crap since the late 70s when the record companies discovered all the formulas that can be used to create hit songs. Most bands recieving airplay nowadays are just cookie cutter copies of each other. You get one decent group, and about six or seven that try to ride the one genuine band's "wave".
I'll agree with Saleen Owner that the best way to go is college radio and the internet. You can actually find some diversity in music as well as not flipping through your presets to hear the same song on every station.

Sad, but so very, very true.

I hope it does change. Those with the lack of talent are the ones who are getting the spotlight, and it's killing me. There's so little good music out there these days that I find myself listening to the same metalica and black sabbath cd's over and over.

You guys are sooo lucky not to have can. con.(canadain content). I'm so sick of hearing Nikleback, Billy Talent, Avil Lavige and every other non-hit crappy canadian band out there. I avoid the main streem altogether. Anything edgy is consisder too"heavy" to be played on the radio and isn't played because it might offend someone.

That's because the Canadian Government wants to control your mind!
Most things Canadian aren't good for you. Especially their policy.
RUSH, TRIUMPH.........Seen 'em both multiple times........not bad bands....fairly entertaining.
