Ok, I'm curious now, what are the driving styles or different areas of the country? I consider myself a reasonable driver, I probably ride 4-6 car lengths away from the car in front of me (When I'm on the interstate) I don't accelerate incredibly fast, and I try to stay within the speed limit. Given, this is when I'm driving regularly, but now for the question. I know this chick that I go to college with, she's from mass. OMG she drives insane, she tailgates like 4 feet off their bumper, while we're going 80 miles an hour in a 70 zone. She punches the gas hard, and she calls all this normal, and calls us florida drivers chicken. Is that the general driving style in new england, or is it just her?
I don't take anything away from her, she's a sweet girl and all, I'm just wondering about driving styles, and if that is normal new england driving....

That is the way most people / idiots drive here in New England. I hate it! They slam on the gas as soon as the light turns green...and heaven forbid if you are first in line at a street light and don't floor it when it turns green. Seems like most people think the highway is a parking lot...meaning if you try to keep a safe distance between yourself and the car in front of you, someone will squeeze in there. People try to squeeze past you on the right as the lanes are ending, weave in and out of traffic. Everything you described and more...terrible drivers here in the Northeast. I don't drive like an old lady or anything, but I try to keep the safety of myself and others around me in mind when I get behind the wheel. I'm telling you...I can't drive 5 miles around here without someone really pushing my "road rage" button. I'ts not just young driver either...the absolute worse are SUV drivers (men or women) and 2nd place would be woman in mini vans. Oh yeah...these people do all this while talking on the cell phone too! This is no exageration! If someone says I'm lying it's probably cuase they are one of the offender and they think it's normal.
So to answer your question...yes, unfortunately this is the way most people drive in New England.
Yeah New England drivers are very aggressive. Since I got my liscence in Mass.
I now live in VA where there are many different driving styles around here because of the all the military people here!
I remember in Mass you would have to have your front end out in front of people before they would let you in!! It was crazy!! My wife hates my driving!!! I try to be easier in the van because the kids are normally with us, but sometimes it is nice to be more aggressive.
I work in Atlanta. We have some crazy drivers here......we have the highest speeding average of the nation. I-85 Drops down to 55 inside the perimeter of atlanta, but people continue to go 90 or even 95. AND we dont slow down in the rain (i do but i meant atlantans in general). Accidents (as in more than one, and almost never just 2) I see everyday goin to work. Its ridiculous. This is my face everyday----->

That's scary, that really is. I'm impressed by some of the drivers i will see, and they still aren't being overly aggressive. Sometimes I'll be driving, and all these 80 year old people are flying down the highway, 80-90 mph. Kinda throws out that image of a little old lady crawling along way below the speed limit...

In Alabama, it's kinda like being at Talladega sometimes. However, being that this is the South, there are a GREAT number of people who drive 55-60 mph (70 speed limit) in the left lane. Those people are as much a hazard as the ones doing 95/100.
down in arizona at least in Tucson, the people drive SOOO slow. on one og the main roads, Oracle the people are always going like 45 when the speed limit is 55. and this is one of the WORST towns to have a bike in. they just don't see them on the streets here. i can't remember how many times someone almost ran me off the road because they were coming into my lane and didn't see me.

California here, checking in!
I couldn't agree with you more.....drivers just don't get it in California. The LEFT lane is NOT a cruising lane!
Get the F**K over! They are extremely hazardous! These idiots rational is "I'm going the speed limit, I don't have to get out of your way!"
WRONG!
California is INSANE!!!!!!!! You haven't lived until you've driven through Los Angelos during rush hour.
The scariest thing I've ever seen was when I was driving through Little Saigon. This woman was weaving in and out of traffic in a HUGE Yukon cutting everybody off. When I got a closer look as I barely got around her, she had a cell phone to her ear and was laughing so hard her eyes were closed!

Hate me or not. But im one of em thatll make you move out of the fastlane for going the speed limit or less. Im always on the go, like Mustang Mike said " get the f*** over " There a rule here in California, Fastlane is for Fast people thats why its called FASTLANE!!!!! Lets just say nobody ever make me move out of the fastlane not unless im exiting.
They should really make an exit lane from the fastlane for fast people. Did that make sense
