Question Are You A Car Lover Or A Mustang Lover?

I wanted to post this as a poll, but I couldn't figure out how. Basically I was just curious about the members here, and what category we all fit into.

In person I seem to find people that for example only like "Ford" or only like "Chevy" or only like "Chrysler" or only like "Japanese imports" or only like "European imports" etc. etc. you get the picture.

Most people I've met in person seem to have some love for cars, but generally it is limited to a specific type of car or a specific manufacturer. I mean really how many times have you been driving and seen a derogatory bumper sticker making fun of Fords, Chevys, or even imports. I see them all the time. So I was just curious what type of members we have here. So exactly what are you?

1. I only like Mustangs

2. I only like Fords

3. I like any domestic sports car

4. I like sports cars excluding Japanese imports

5. I pretty much like all sports cars

6. I like all cars if they are well made and I enjoy driving them

Me personally I fall into that #6 category, I like alot of different cars from economy to sports to luxury to exotic. There are cars from all over the world I like and I'm not a die hard Ford fan that hates Chevys. While I'll admit I prefer any current Mustang over any current Camaro or Firebird, I still like Camaros and Firebirds I even like Cavaliers, and I really like Corvettes alot.

I also like many European cars BMWs, Porsches, Mercedes Benz, etc. and believe it or not there are even a few Japanese Imports I like some aren't production anymore like the Toyota Supra or the Mitsubishi 3000GT, but there are some others that aren't too bad the Toyota Celica GT-S, Mitsubishi Eclipse, Honda S2000, and the Acura RSX. Now granted I would not pick those Japanese Imports (other than the Supra & 3000GT) over a Mustang but that doesn't make them bad cars in their own class.

Now there is one company I try to stay away from and that is Chrystler, and that is just because I had some serious personal bad experiences with their products in the past. However, that doesn't mean I don't like the look or wouldn't want to own a Dodge Viper or a Plymouth Prowler

In general I'm a car lover of many brands at heart, and if I was rich right now I would probably have

2003 Ford Mustang Cobra SVT
A Saleen S281e
A Roush Mustang Stage III
2002 Camaro SS
2003 Corvette Z06
2003 Dodge Viper RT/10
1978 Pontiac Trans Am (Mint)
1964 1/2 Ford Mustang (Mint)
1974 Corvette (Mint)
BMW Z8
BMW M3
BMW 330i
1998 Acura NSX
1998 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4
1997 Toyota Supra Turbo
2001 Porsche 911 Turbo
1998 Jaguar XJ8
2002 SLK32 AMG

....and probably alot more I just can't think of at the moment lol. So are you a Mustang lover or a Car lover?

I'm a number 6 guy. I mostly drive Fords, but I do appreciate a well built fast car. Anyone who doesn't, well to each his own, but you will be missing alot in life if you just think of Ford. But then of course like you said, I would have to be rich to own some of the cars you listed there. I would add a few more Mustangs myself, but I think we all get the picture.

Cheers,
Robert

I grew up on fords. have owned a few firebirds, but basically i like to stick with ford cause i know how to work on them the best. It's just what i've been trained(by family and freinds) to work on. I have worked on a few chevys and can apprecitate some of thier engineering aspects. Its also kinda fun because it's not the same 302 that i messed with all my life. I would not mind working on some turbo 4's. It's not really the fartcan cars i dislike (except for the sound they can make a better sound than that) is mainly the attitudes of the people that drive them. They have no respect at all for real power or understand why a bigger air pump puts out more power all mods being equal.

If i were rich i would own in no particular order
94 gt keep what i have
66 coupe keep what i have
Lincoln LS Keep what i have except supercharged saw one on the web!
72 roadrunner
72 Torino
73 transam
gt-40
69-70 gt500
68 torino coupe
69 galaxie 500 XL
WRX
Audi TT
BMW 330

I love any car thats got work into it, and not just a tasteless body kit and a fart tip. I just prefer Fords, and mainly, MUSTANGS!

I put myself in the number six category as well. Since my wife and I drive a 2000 Grand am GT, I use a 1999 Chevy S10 with ZR2 package for a work truck, and then we have my personal favorite 1989 mustang lx 5.0. So you see I like to get a nice variety of manufacturers. Let me rephrase that AMERICAN manufacturers.lol

I would be in the 6 categories as well. My first car was a Merc Montero, kind of ugly thinking back. After that I moved into my import years Dodge Challenger (Mitsu), Dodge ram50 (Mitsu), Chrysler Conquest turbo (Mitsu). Got tired of Mitsus and went with an accord than kids forced us to go with a Chrysler mini van, once they where a bit older we purchased our current Jeep Grand Cherokee (much problems with brakes on this thing). Than the Wife and I thought it would be neat to have a fun car (I have a company tuck so we could justify buying another vehicle). We did a lot of shopping and wanted a convertible, we looked at BMW’s, Toyota Spyders, Mitsu Spyders, Mazda but the big draw back was no back seat. The kids are still young enough that they have to do stuff with us so we always had the Mustang in the back of our heads. Last year a dealer had a Black 01 Cobra sitting in the show room that we were in love with but the buggers wouldn’t even drop the price $500.00 so we said screw it. This year we test-drove a 02 GT and we got hooked. It’s so different from the imports just the sound, the way it drives and the power, so we are very happy. Our long-term plans are to store this baby in the winters and only bring it when there is no threat of rain. Than when we are real old we’ll go sit at car shows and look at all the other gray hairs and their cars.

All that being said there are a bunch of other cars I wouldn’t mind getting but most are out of our price range at the moment.
