Default Petition to supprt Marine in Iraq

This is one story of many that people normally don't hear, and one
that everyone does.

This is just one most don't hear:

A young Marine and his cover man cautiously enter a room just recently
filled with insurgents armed with Ak-47's and RPG's. There are three
dead, another wailing in pain. The insurgent can be heard saying,
"Mister, mister! Diktoor, diktoor(doctor)!" He is badly wounded, lying
in a pool of his own blood. The Marine and his cover man slowly walk
toward the injured man, scanning to make sure no enemies come from
behind. In a split second, the pressure in the room greatly exceeds
that of the outside, and the concussion seems to be felt before the
blast is heard. Marines outside rush to the room, and look in horror
as the dust gradually settles. The result is a room filled with the
barely recognizable remains of the deceased, caused by an insurgent
setting off several pounds of explosives.
The Marines' remains are gathered by teary eyed comrades, brothers in
arms, and shipped home in a box. The families can only mourn over a
casket and! a picture of their loved one, a life cut short by someone
who hid behind a white flag. But no one hears these stories, except
those who have lived to carry remains of a friend, and the families
who loved the dead. No one hears this, so no one cares.

This is the story everyone hears:

A young Marine and his fire team cautiously enter a room just recently
filled with insurgents armed with AK-47's and RPG's. There are three
dead, another wailing in pain. The insurgent can be heard saying,
"Mister, mister! Diktoor, diktoor(doctor)!" He is badly wounded.
Suddenly, he pulls from under his bloody clothes a grenade, without
the pin. The explosion rocks the room, killing one Marine, wounding
the others. The young Marine catches shrapnel in the face. The next
day, same Marine, same type of situation, a different story. The young
Marine and his cover man enter a room with two wounded insurgents. One
lies on the floor in puddle of blood, another against the wall. A
reporter and his camera survey the wreckage inside, and in the
background can be heard the voice of a Marine, "He's moving, he's
moving!" The pop of a rifle is heard, and the insurgent against the
wall is now dead.

Minutes, hours later, the scene is aired on national television, and
the Marine is being held for committing a war crime. Unlawful killing.

And now, another Marine has the possibility of being burned at the
stake for protecting the life of his brethren. His family now wrings
their hands in grief, tears streaming down their face. Brother, should
I have been in your boots, I too would have done the same.

For those of you who don't know, we Marines, Band of Brothers,
Jarheads, Leathernecks, etc., do not fight because we think it is
right, or think it is wrong. We are here for the man to our left, and
the man to our right. We choose to give our lives so that the man or
woman next to us can go home and see their husbands, wives, children,
friends and families.

For those of you who sit on your couches in front of your television,
and choose to condemn this man's actions, I have but one thing to say
to you. Get out of you recliner, lace up my boots, pick up a rifle,
leave your family behind and join me. See what I've seen, walk where I
have walked. To those of you who support us, my sincerest gratitude.
You keep us alive.

I am a Marine currently doing his second tour in Iraq. These are my
opinions and mine alone. They do not represent those of the Marine
Corps or of the US military, or any other.

Sincerely,

LCPL Schmidt
USMC

I have been asked MANY times how I could shoot at people, sometimes possibly killing the innocent, and still sleep at night - I'll tell you how....

1. The way I see it, it's either me and possibly my family/friends or them.
2. There's this FLAG that flies outside my house, has 50 stars and 13 stripes on it...to me, it represents EVERY person in this country, and it was MY JOB to defend it. If it meant shooting missiles or something else at another nation's people to make sure that flag can STILL fly outside my house, then so be it....

My heart aches for that young Marine - reason #1 why THE MEDIA SHOULD NOT BE NEXT TO A SOLDIER, who is AFRAID FOR HIS LIFE, and trying to do the right thing....

I feel bad for the guy. They shouldnt have aired it without fully understanding the situation first. The online petition, as good willed as it may be, wont change anything though. I hope that everything gets straightened up, but right not thats doubtful. I get depressed everytime i hear this story.

These Dirtbag Sandflea Sub-human POS combatants have been playing wounded or waving white flags and then jumping up and killing our soldiers.

The cowards asked for it...........THEY'RE THE ONES who aren't following War-Time Protocol!

In WWII we had to start shooting wounded Japanese Soldiers because they were doing the same thing.
That's what they want? That's what they get.

I think Bush better stand by this Marine or he'll suffer some serious backlash.

C'mon George! Show some FRICKIN' BACK-BONE!

Personally I'd like to have seen the weather change in Fallusia to a balmy 55,000 degrees and not see any of our soldiers get killed.

Why is there more outrage against this American Soldier doing his job than the beheading of innocent civilians? Please tell me! Bury the Islamo-facists scum in pig skins.
Exactly my comments in the petition.

The 'insurgents' deserve nothing but death and ANY good soldier is willing to help him find his nirvana, which IMHO is a lot closer to Hell than he yet knows!

It does'nt matter that you voted for him or that you did not want to send troops..........What matters is that those things get put aside, and we all support what has to be done .....to the FINISH.
Theres no reson to catch hell for an oppinion-----It's the opinions that have a pile of stupidity attached to them, that become a problem. so Rock on Fordgasm

I have no real problem with folks stating they are against the war of yjay they voted for Kerry. My problem with your opinion begins when you are on foreign soil and telling those folks how bad our President is and that our soldiers are all war criminals.

When you do that my wish is that you would move there and STAY there. This country does not need THAT kind of dissent!

When Kerry did the above he and those like Jane Fonda cost thousands of lives and in the end lost us a war. An estimated 8 million lives were lost after we evacuated South Vietnam. There is no arguing this as we have the journals of the Commanders on the other side that support this.

Now, the likes of Kerry and many democrats decry the war effort and even would pull us out immediately without addressing what the final outcome might be. Their dissent is costing the lives of our soldiers and Iraqis that stand with them.

Kerry voted repeatedly to deny our soldiers with modern equipment that allows us to do more with less loss of life.

IF you 'Support our Soldiers,' then why now and not THEN!!!

Now, one might look at this from a different angle. In several regions of Iraq the insurgents were allowed to assemble. Most came from Syria and Iran as well as other countries. NOW, go in and kill every one of them with EXREME prejudice.

The Soldiers in question are HEROES! Every last one of them and I'm proud we are there. :thumbsup
