Default Battlestar Galactica anyone?

I grew up with this show and was wondering if anyone else remembers/ or were fans of the original show.

Now Sci FI channel is coming out with their new version of it more interest is out there just wondering if any of it was here………….

Yep, I used to watch the original series way back when. Just saw the new TV movie the other night...it's different, I'll say that much. What were the actual names of some of the original characters are now just "call signs", a couple of them actually changed genders, one of them not only changed gender but is portrayed as a different race...only to find out at the end that the character isn't even human in this re-make!

The relationship between "Adama" and "Apollo" (from the original) isnt' quite the same, and the "bad guy", Baltar, is more of a cowardly "dupe" than the outright treasonous coward of the original. The special effects have come a long way, of course.

Doubt that I'll make much effort to watch the series...got too many other things happening anyway. Besides, I've always been more into the Star Trek series' and "Enterprise" airs the same night.

….
Before I was married, I owned a 1972 Plymouth Fury II, four years old at the time. I smashed up the front end a couple of times; and, actually had to bolt the hood closed as the latch no longer worked. I drove that POS everywhere. What a party cruiser!! We eventually found that the keys weren't needed to start or run the car. Someone stole the car once as a result, and only got five blocks before it ran outa gas. They left it in the middle of the road !!

It was my first boat. Could easily seat four, or sleep two, which it did many times. Have yet to own anything as big. Road like a dream.

It was sooo ugly that my future brother-in-law nicknamed it "BATTLESTAR GALACTICA" after the spaceship the Plymouth seemed to look like.

So, yeah. I remember the show. Lorne Green was one of the stars. I'm sure the re-make is twice as stupid as the original. Can't say I was a fan. Thanks for the ole' car memories!

I watched that show faithfully. It was corny, but was good entertainment for a kid. I thought that it would be fun to watch the new movie with the kids the other night. I had to turn it off during the first fifteen minutes because of the gratuitous sex scenes. My daughter is only nine and I don't want to have her exposed to that trash.

Yea with the new show there is the mini series (3 part 6hr total) that leads into the new series.
Yea I love the original series it was corny but what show from the 70’s early 80’s wasn’t. I believe with the new series they are trying to get more of the original fans to dive in and therefore is more adult in nature.
And they haven’t said anything about many of the original characters, like Sheba and Cassiopeia and a few others.
And I looked it up there was only around 24 original episodes and then only a few in the Battlestar Galactica 1980 where the find earth (I think the series really went down hill then but don’t hardly remember anything from those few episodes)

I like it but I wish the ships looked like they did back in the original shows, the vipers, the Galactica and the cylon ships…….plus have a few of the original chrome toasters around……………………….

Yes also a big fan of Stargate SG1, loved the show when it was original but them missed several seasons of it when the shi fi chanel was not offered here. It is really funny my 1 year old will freeze in place and fall in a trance when the opening of Stargate SG1 comes on it’s the music she really into it.

I LOVED that show! With the Ceylon Radiers and all. It was one of the first post Star Wars Sci Fi shows. It was AWSOME!

Yeah, I saw every episode -like 3 times. That was my favorite show growing up . . . that and Buck Rogers (Man, those outfits for women were murder!! They need to show reruns, like everyday of Buck Rogers).

I like the new one better. the atmosphere and music are SPOT ON. 2 hours of desperation.

-But Adama's son looks a lot like the milkman, if you get my drift!

THey should have gotten the lead from Kingpin to play the part.

Man, I miss that show - the cable company here doesn't carry UPN.

Cool

Personally I'm excited. I watched the mini-series and I really liked the 'creative liscense' character changes. I enjoyed the tension between Cpt Apollo and CDR Adama. It was played up far better than in the original series. The biggest issue to get around is a female LT. Starbuck. But, I like it a lot. I think this will be an excellent addition to the SCI FI line up.

IMHO, SG 1 is the best weekly SCI FI show since ST: Next Gen. SG Atlantis is good but, with plenty of room to grow. Battlestar Galatica should slide in fine. Friday's are nights to look forward to ..... finally something to TVio or watch live.

Yes I know what I’m going to be doing tonight also………Stargate SG1 and then Battlestar Galactica,, if I’m lucky Enterprise will be on during Stargate alantis, I think the show is just OK but would gladly miss it for Enterprise.

Yep I watched Buck Rodgers also but never got into it like Battlestar Galactica, that was definitely my favorite show growing up………………

Yea the gender changing is something I can live with because they are making the plot with the characters interesting , but would prefer the old womanizing Starbuck, but then again they could still do that…….

What I really cant forgive them for is “modernizing” the ships, I still love the old ones and am not getting into the new ones…………

Ya, i got school tommarow so it will give me an excuse to stay at home and watch them all. i also agree with the Atlantis thing, the mainreason i like Stargate is the characters. Jackson, Carter, Teal'c, and O'neil are some AWSOME charaters. O'neil is my all time favorite though. I even like the newer guy Jonas, and can't forget THOR, he so cool!!!!!!
