When you see a V6 Mustang, what goes through your head? If you saw a 6 with modifications done to it, such as dual exhaust, what do you think? It's obvious that a 6 compares with a GT in no way without heavy mods, and definitely sounds nothing like one. Everyone will always say "yeah, you're car would be a lot better if it were a GT" .. but you know something? My car isn't a GT, and quite frankly I think that I'm lucky to have what I have. It's reasonable that I DON'T have a GT being 16 ... high insurance, terrible gas mileage compared to a 6, and too much power. I think about it all the time..I could have been stuck with an import without any torque/power AT ALL, and I'm also pretty confident that a V6 Mustang is the fastest thing that I could have had. If you saw my car...gold, dual exhaust, tints, side stripes that said MUSTANG at the door (you've seen them before), wheels/tires...would you think the same thing that I think when I see a Mustang with a kit that looks like a Supra? Or do you have any appreciation at all for people "like us"? And finally, do you think a V6 Mustang with exhaust sounds ricey? I really think that that's pushing it, but I read that in a V6 forum post tonight and I almost **** a brick. I'm proud of my car, I like my car, so don't say "it's what you like". Tell me what YOU think!
I'm a first time mustang owner and I never considered the sixxer. Just today I warmed it up, got out for a bit and listened to the exhaust note from my stock dual exhuast and HOT DAMN did it ever sound good. Almost like it was krackling..... The sixxer is a nice car in it's own right but it all comes down to personal choice and where you're at in life and what you want out of a car...
regardless...enjoy it! http://www.allfordmustang.com/forums...lies/thumb.gif

Well, what do I think, lets see 6 with dual exhaust, sounds like a bunch of bumble bee's in a can, nothing compares to the throaty sound of a V8 with dual exhaust. Poor fuel economy, you might want to re-think that one. Just because it is a V8 don't fall under the impression that it will have poor fuel economy. Its cool that you have a stang with a V6, there's nothing wrong with that,, as you state your only 16. We all started out with the same at that age, you can only get what you can afford. I just have a problem with kids your age, who have mommies and daddies $$$ poured into there car and what some of them have done. Granted its not your fault and I know how some parents are today. Dude, if you were here right now and I was checking your ride out and it did not sound like a$$ everything looked cool I'd tell you to your face :thumbsup AWESOME I like it. If I didn't I'd tell you the same. Unfortunately, your growing up in a time when you don't hear of the terms Rat Motor, Mouse, Elephant...etc. Nothing will compare to those days. Yes, we are I would say having another descreet horsepower war going but its not the same, but saying too much power,, sorry, its about damn time. As you get older you might understand the thrill that comes when I high horsepowered V8 pushes you back in your seat. I too have an issue with people who mod there rides and make them look like a GT. From what you wrote your ride does sound cool, just don't make it look like a GT and pass it off as one, cause then its not. I can understand where your coming from, my kid is only 4 years younger than you. He is all into the NFS Underground 2, Fast and the Furious stuff and thats okay cause these are the times he is growing up in, but at least he has an old man you can educate him on what things used to be like and at his age when he see's an old musclecar go by he wishes he had one of those versus a hair-dryer powered supra. You also have to understand where I'm coming from. I used to work on these things and earn a living with them, In my opinion they are boat anchors, but like I said that is my opinion. Right now I have two V6's, Taurus 24 valve DOHC and a 4.0 Liter Explorer, the Taurus goes bye-bye as soon as my 05 GT gets here. You wanted opinions I gave you mine. Plus I'll leave you something to think about, if you go up against and race someone and they whup your a$$ and they are say older maybe have gray or white hair and they look back at you and smile at you appreciate it, cause like I said we all have started out where your at.
It all depends on what mods were done and how the whole thing comes out. If it looks tasteful and not over done, runs good and sounds nice then I gotta give the guy props. You can't knock guys for modding V6's, afterall the very first hot rodders were stuck with 4 bangers to mod until the flathead V8 came out in '33. Even well after that, a lot of them stuck with the 4 because the parts were available to make those cars faster than the V8's of the day. Don't feel bad because you 'only' have a V6. Be proud that you have a 'Stang in the first place.

I think the V6 Mustang is great! It offers people an opportunity to enjoy Mustang ownership without the much higher initial cost and the much higher insurance cost every year. Some will say cost of GT ownership shouldn't be a factor but, the reality is that, it is a factor to most Mustang fans. This explains why 3 out of 4 Mustangs sold are V6's. I don't feel that gas mileage is much of an issue, since driven normally, the V8 is capable of impressive mpg. If you enjoy the performance and sound of the GT, as I do, then great! But I envy the much lower insurance cost of the V6.
As stated before, tasteful modding of the V6 can look great but I would refrain from rebadging it to a GT or trying to make it look loke a GT as I would say the same about rebadging a GT to a Cobra.

my first thought is "cool, another Pony !". I have seen V-6s with spinner wheels (YUCK), dual exhaust that made them sound like ricers, huge wings, and other mods lately that make me shake my head. It also cracks me up to hear someone who has a stock V6 claim how they can "whoop that Red GT over there", and then watch them come up with a boat load of excuses when you call them out. IMO, a Mustang is a Mustang, and I am not the type to belittle the V6 owners just because I have a GT. I wave at every Pony I see, unless they are the ones with the "rice package" (as I call it).
Personally if it were me I wouldn't put a dime on the outside of my 6 cyl. All my mods would be under the hood. I'd have one bad sleeper. Check out this 4cyl. Guy drives it to the track on race day. LMAO this car would be too much fun to have
the only time i think anything negative about a 6 is when i see one thats been rebadged as a GT. other than that, enjoy your car dude.
And this is one thing that I would never do. Some people tell me I should get a hood scoop, and even if I do think that it would look cool, I don't want to get it for the simple fact it's what you see on the GT's. (although I do think the 40th anniversary V6's have them? .. still, it's not what I have) People also say that the GT rear bumper would look good with my dual exhaust, but once again, that's one way I identify a GT on the streets, and I don't want people thinking that I think I'm something I'm not. It's like on my wheels right now... they have Cobra center caps, and I've been trying my best to find some original Pony center caps for them, but no luck... Any help there?
I hope all that crap isn't going through your head every time you drive it. That would be a shame.
Agreed ... I don't think anything other than it's another Mustang.
If I see mods, then I assume the driver/owner is a Mustang fan I wanted to hook it up. I for one never look done on the size of the motor just the motivation of the owner.

ok... I've been around mustangs since the early 80s... My buddys have owned various years for the last 20 years. I had to get rid of my 02 GT last year do to our expanding family... hello MINI-VAN! WOOHOO!!! Now I wasn't in the market at all for a new mustang... Then I saw my first 05 in person... WOW! Now with new baby and teenager about ready to get her drivers license and lets not forget the premium the GTs are getting... well figured I'ld just settle for the V6... I mean I remember those horrid dogs from the 80's and 90's... I thought ok... With the X-Plan discount on the V6 it will fit nicely in my budget... so I'll get a V6. Yep, i really thought I'ld be SETTLING for a V6... 2500 miles later all I can say is I did not SETTLE! This V6 is nothing like any previous Mustang V6! This car fit my need perfectly, the price was right, and it performs way better than I ever would have imagined... I know there is a lot of history to overcome... it won't be easy to erase the stigma attached to a V6... but like the guy who was staring at my car in auto parts parking lot said, after i told him the V6 is rated at 210hp... "Geez, that's more than my 86 GT..." LOL!
ok... so my rant is probably way OT... one thing that is on topic is I switched out the muffer Day 2... Had the guys at Tuffy put a Flo Pro V-Force (i think that's the one... LOL) on... I took it back to the dealer to touch up a spot on the hood... the Manager drover it into the garage.. He get's out and says, "Man, that sounds really nice... I didn't realize Ford made such a sweet sounding 6..." I just smiled and said, "Well.... " LOL!
v6's are great ---not to change the subject or anything ---but am i allowed to own my mustang and an 05 vette? because i really want one - personally i would take an 05 vette over an 05 mustang anyday ...i think they look cooler
