Default New use for Meguiar's Scratch X

Yesterday I was trying to perform a system restore on an old laptop, and the restore would hang when it got to 29%. I took the CD out and noticed that there was a nasty film on the plastic and was probably preventing the computer from reading the data. So I thought for a moment "What kind of mild abrasive can I use to clean up this CD?" I went out to the garage, grabbed my tube of Scratch X and used a damp cloth to rub the CD with the polish. It worked like a charm. The stuff removed the junk off the CD and I was able to complete the rest of the restore without trouble.

Anyway, it was pretty cool. You could probably use it to correct scratches on CD's too, but I haven't tried that yet.

Cheers.

Awesome! Great thinking!

I've also used spray-type furniture wax (like "Pledge") to restore mildly scratched CDs and DVDs -- the wax fills in minor scratches.
