wldchic ,

Just go to a lawyer in your area , You will find out fast who is in the right ( if they are being paid by a % of any settlements ) . Just call your locar bar association for a list of lawyers that handle this kind of case .

I myself have never heard of Skin clothes and would have never made any connection to it being gang releted . But then again , the only reason I would think this now is because of what was stated here . Maybe someone can go to the skinhead homepage and email them . Ask if this is their logo for the area that wldchic lives in .

the U.S. was among the 1st countries (if not THE first) to apply universal education and the reason had nothing to do with reading the bible (which was most often printed in Latin).

It was for democracy.

The reason i stated goes back before Jefferson into the colonies. I know it was public school as we know it but it was the begining of it.

A students civil rights do not end as they walk into the school , at least that is what my lawyer told me several years ago whenever I was haveing a dispute with my school district . As the results being what they are, I tend to believe him . BUt I am not a lawyer myself . Do civil rights only apply to citizens over a certain age / occupation - non student ? From what I`ve seen , read ( local news paper ) and heard , my school district has paid out millions of dollars in the last ten years . Yes , they found out the hard ( and expensive ) way about students civil rights . But then I live in a school district that has been sued , actions brought against them , well into the double digits . The bigest loser is the tax payer . For in the end they are the ones who end up paying the cost .

No, the biggest losers are folks who elect school boards that campaign on bumperstickers.

Well I can tell you from experience search and seizure rights don't apply in high school. They can search anytime they feel like it. And from what the Judge told me in court it applies to pretty much all the other rights as well.

They took all my stash... bastards lol.

Which goes back to the standard. Drugs detract from the education of others, and is illegal. So it's not considered unreasonable search and siezure.

Once again coyote is only partially right (although I’m sure to here a correction and reassignment of the definition of “unreasonable” or something else) you do have an expectation of privacy although it is limited (like in a vehicle but more so in a school setting) schools work off of “reasonable suspicion” as we have to work off of “probable cause”. Reasonable suspicion is much less and gives them a broad stroke to enforce school rules (just like the courts give them a broad stroke to enforce school rules on dress codes right coyote!)

And as stated the courts have ruled that you don’t leave your civil right at the door of the school, but you also don’t enjoy those rights without restriction in the school setting.
