Student suspended/expelled for wearing “SKIN� CLOTHING…
This is about my daughter:

My daughter is in 8th grade. There is another 8th grade girl that lives in our neighborhood, she was in a talent contest at school and lost. My daughters (twins) are best friends with the girl that won "SUE". The girls do not hang out with each other, but they don't have any problems either.

"JANE", mother of the girl who did not win, does have a problem with my daughters and SUE. If they walk by her house she comes out screaming and yelling, she has threatened to kill them, and dispose of their bodies. I FILED A POLICE REPORT, nothing happened. The police told them to stay away from her house "SHE IS CRAZY".... they have.
While in school, my daughter was passing through the office, JANE was in the office, she called my daughter a little b****, my daughter called her a f***ing c**t. Keep in mind my daughter is a child, JANE is an adult. I complained to the school cop and principal, my daughter was suspended (5 days) for using foul language; disobeying; the mother was told, "don't talk to students". Is this right?

Now for the second part............

My daughters wear "SKIN CLOTHING", for those of you who don't know:

THERE IS NOT A RULE THAT STATES NO "SKIN" CLOTHING

The school principal and school district tells me that "SKIN" clothing is related to "WHITE SUPREMACY".........it is NOT, in any way, shape, or form. Who are they to say what clothing stands for? Where do they get the info? There is no document they could provide me with showing any such involvement.

My daughter has been in trouble several (15) times for wearing the SKIN clothing. I did not make her stop, because there is nothing wrong with her clothing, and we have no involvement in any type white supremacy. The school district calls it disobeying.

The school district/principal now has put her up for expulsion. She did not dress out for PE on Monday; she was disobeying again. So the bottom line is she had disobeyed too many times. EXPULSION FOR CLOTHING..................

Where is the education part in all of this? What about Math, English, and Social Studies..............What is this teaching her?

What do I do? I have to stand up for what I believe in, which I did, by not making her stop wearing the clothing, they had no evidence of white supremacy, it doesn't exist. If I back down now, what is that showing my daughter? If I continue, I put her in risk of problems at school.

Why don't you send them some links to the site??? It says nothing about "skin heads" which USED to represent white "supremecy". I would contact the media, it would make the school look ridiculous and the media would love a story. Just my suggestion.

My advice would be to fight this. But, you should be very careful about how you do it. I just did a search on the net and it seems kids all over the country are getting suspended for wearing "inappropriate" clothing. They define inappropriate clothing as anything that promotes, advertises, depicts, etc., gangs, sex, racism, drugs, crime, or exposes too much skin or any other distracting or offensive type stuff. That's not an exact quote, but that's what I get out of it. You would have to prove to the school board that Skin clothing does not do any of this. I hate to say it, but this sounds like a losing battle. The stiffs that run schools are pretty set in their ways and don't really care about the latest fashions. And it's happening everywhere. But this sort of thing falls into the relm of free speech. That should give you a leg to stand on. If you can afford a lawyer, it might be a good idea.

I wrote an email to both address above. I was sponsered by SKIN when I was riding motocross. I am a 22 yr old Hispanic Male with some tats and In "NO WAY DOES SKIN SUPPORT WHITE SUPREMECY" Hell they sponsored me and I'm the poster child for hispanic males... LOL


I included all the info about my sponsorship and my dealing with SKIN I when the sponsored me they were nothing but nice ppl and very very respectable.

These ppl are idiots "FIGHT THIS" if you need my help please let me know I will assist you in any way I can. This type of stupidity needs to stop.

Maybe young kids shouldn't be dressing like that in school.... Maybe that is the issue. Some of the local schools here are not allowed to wear anything that shows the stomach.

They are not allowed to show their stomach either. The SKIN clothing that they wear to school are jackets and sweatshirts.

I'm sure I don't help the problem, everytime I go in to see the principal, I'm usually wearing a SKIN tanktop or something that would be unacceptable.......but I'm not in school! They just don't like parents like me, they want everyone to pull up in a minivan wearing sweats, on the way to the donut shop with their hair pulled back in a ponytail, no makeup, you know, they want the parents to look like teachers! (please, if you are a teacher, or your wife is, I'M JUST HAVING A LITTLE FUN)

It's not my fault the principal can't wear tank tops............plastic surgery is getting pretty cheap!!!

I think this is part of the problem most ppl see the SKINBABES.COM and they click that they don't click to see what the site is really about. Secondly those girls are hott, they came out a few time at my meets we partied and those girls can party!!

Hi WildChic, I'm a father of three, with one in Jr. High. And it is always tough to help your children decide when to take a stand. A person should not be simply judged by what they wear, but by their character ( I hope I spelled that correctly). However it might be wiser to fight this policy from the inside instead of the outside. My opinion is comply to the dress code and fight the issue after the fact. I don't believe this is giving in, but it allows your daughter to continue to get her education and teaches her how to deal with this type of situation. This won't be the last time in her life where she will have to deal with this sort of prejudgement. It's better to be a thorn in the side, than a thorn in their face. Don't let this die, just deal with it in a different way. My .02 cents.

Here's an idea: why don't you buy your daughter some nicer clothes, so she doesn't have to dress like a tramp at school?

And if you're looking for a battle, I can think of several better ones than arguing with your school district about a dress code. Maybe challenge corporate power? Do something about the mercury in the environment? Fight for women's reproductive rights?

And you're right, your clothing choices have nothing to do with Mustangs. So rather than canvas us to badger your school principals, how about getting a clue and showing your daughter that there are more important things to fight over than trailer trash fashion.

I agree with you completly. The school board will not let her back in school until her expulsion hearing/board meeting, which will be June 7, 2005! Another reason why I am so mad. Yesterday I spoke with the head of Child Development,

I told him I would even go as far as to sign a waiver, dropping any claims to a lawsuit, attorney, etc., he refused. So now do you see where I am coming from. I was trying to kiss their ass to let my daughter back in school, and still I was told NO. So what other choice do I have, but what I am doing. There is no way in hell I'm stoping now.

I can only assume that what they are taking issue with, is what the name implies.

Theres a reason its named that, its meant to get attention, it implies sex or something of a sexual nature.

Im sure the product may have nothing to due with sex or anything there of. But its a business and sex and contreversy sells. Im quite sure if it said something like "Math" or "Mustang" they wouldnt care.
