Hello, everyone, from Canada here! First posting, as I've finally gotten around to joining.
Quite creative plates, all; but I failed to see mine exactly, so a picture is enclosed. Got it in May 2005, and just this week had my only problem with it so far...
Idling, the message centre on the dash indicated "DTE LFI error module" etc. Fuel gauge jumped to empty, but was over 3/4 full. Shut car off and back on; fuel gauge re-set itself. About an hour later, same thing, but after re-start, the "check engine" light stayed on. Dealer today advises me I need a new LEFT gas tank sensor for the fuel gauge. (Yes, the tank is wishbone-shaped over the axle and needs a sensor in both sides).
Love all your cars; they are the best! Putting mine away next month for the snow; save the salt from getting on it (8500km on it now, or about 5300miles). Giddyup!

Thanks, Bushman! Yours IS pretty nice as well...but then, most Mustangs look mighty fine....no complaints! You've done a nice job, and I prefer that Red to the other one.
Actually I have 2 approved and now have to decide.
950TH05
for the 950th Mustang built in 2005
or
X 50
No, not for being past 50 (but it's true) but as a retired person of law enforcement past -- street name for cop -- 5 0 == get it?
Oh well, that's my two approved choices -- now to decide -- do I stress the early build of the 'Stang or the fact that I used to drive cars that waited for cars like the 05 GT to come galloping along?

Hey Mach; Just wondering how you came about to find out what number yours was built at. I ordered mine back in August of 2004 and got it the first week of December. Like to find out which number I was.
Thanks

Personally, I like the non-law choice. Then again, you could really keep them guessing by using the Roman Numerals for it:
PONY CML
(or 05PONY950)
Unfortunately here in LA we can only have 7 characters on the plates. I got a good laugh out of ponycml. Folks would be visually challenged on that one for sure. I kinda like the x 5 0, and a friend of mine of slightly older vintage suggested x fuzz. He also said fuzbstr for fuzz buster would be awesome for an 05 GT. I told him I wanted to make friends with the young law enforcement crowd, not antagonize them to look for me every waking -- working -- minute. Thanks for the feedback.

That's the basic situation -- would I spend all my time explaining x cop for x 5 0 ?
Maybe ol cop would get a laugh and be understood by almost everyone?
Thanks for the feedback.

NorthernStang, See attached quote -- "The last 6 VIN positions are the production sequence number. This number is also used as the vehicle serial and warranty number. 100001 to 599999." "100001 is the 1st vehicle built in a model year and the highest sequence # is the last vehicle built in a model year. 599999, if production reached that level, would be the last vehicle built. Otherwise, the highest # is the last vehicle built." Courtesy of Ford Motor Company. If you would like, I can send you via email the entire pdf file that covers all of the # and code translations.

Correction, Order serialized, not built. They are not built in numerical order according to VIN#

Appreciate the correction, but the statement PRODUCTION SEQUENCE # came directly from Ford when I called to ask info on the 05 GT. I was missing some stuff from the owner's manual booklet, particularly the interactive cd and wanted a complete package of all data on the car. I asked for him since he helped line up the 999 that was done for me about 2 years ago on the 73's, the info was the same. I asked for an email to help decode the various codes, and he graciously sent me a large pdf file. I assumed the man knew what he was talking about since he actually asked, "That's an early production model sent as a promo unit to **** Ford dealership. It was delivered on ****. When did you buy it? Since this same guy gave me a contact to find all kinds of info (the contact is a "pay for info" location) on the 1st generation Mustangs I own, I felt he was straight with me on the 05 too.

Reason: spelling/grammar
Gotcha, Me and Waxed05GT had a race down the production line with same build dates.
My VIN 1ZVFT82H265133998 Stoenr off lined 10/5/05 5:15:02 AM Waxed's 1ZVFT82H365133637 Waxed'05 GT off lined 10/5/05 12:15:03 PM
He had a lower sequence # but mine was built 1st.
At least I got the date to the second she was born, lol
