Friday night I was on Barrett parkway ( once known for street racing) I had to go to the mall to get some new shoes. Well on my way back to the apartment i saw three fox body Mustangs pass me going the other way. two coupes and a hatchback to be exact. I had never seen them before so my curiosity got the best of me and I turned around and followed where they had turned off of Barrett parkway. I crested a small rise and I saw at least 150 cars ranging from lifted trucks,a joe gibbs silverado, Cobra's Mach 1's GT's T/A's and so on. Anything and everything pretty much.
Well i parked about 3 spaces away from the three ponies i chased down. i just hung out there for a while and met some people and a triple black GT ended up parking next to me. . :thumbsup It was a clean car Talked to the owner of it found out what was done to it etc.. Well after a while some engines were revving and the police broke it up and told us to leave. Well we did , we went across the street.
Well I had not been parked for more than 10 minutes when a officer on foot was telling everyone to leave So i got in my car and heard someone calling my name, well I looked out my passenger window and saw a girl waving in my direction but it didnt sound like the person calling my name was that way so i didnt think anything of it. Well then my phone rang and when i answered it a female voice said " I see you" so i looked out my window again and it was the same girl who had been waving at me. What luck i have it was the girl that i was cahsing after that used to work with me. ( look at my thread titled Got Shotdown.) well I talked to her for a while and left once the officer headed my way again. So I pulled back onto Barret Parkway and and decided to get on it and broke the back end loose in 1st and then spun halfway through 2nd. Thats when my night of a strong running car ended.
After doing that I began to smell antifreeze , well at first I figured i must have sloshed some out of the overflow bottle while I was getting on it. Well after I smelled it, it went away. I didnt think anything else of it. I noticed my car was running a little warm but then again I was sitting in Friday night dinner/movie/cruisin traffic so I just kept an eye on it. I noticed my car was a little sluggish too but thats normal when i sit in traffic.
I eventually wound up at my place about 1130 and got into bed cuz I had to work Saturday. Saturday I took a half day because I had a family reunion to get to down at my parents place. i was making great time until 2 miles from my exit when I hit dead traffic. I-85 sb was going from 4 lanes to 1 lane abouty a mile after my exit. It took me 45 minutes to move 2 miles

Remeber that smell of antifreeze ? I know I did when I started to smell it while I was sitting in traffic. Then I started to notice little wisps of steam rising from my hood scoops and out from under the front of the hood. I was freakin overheating in non moving traffic. Luckily I hit a pocket of moving traffic in the far right lane and got into the emrgency lane and got off on my exit. I made it to the nearest auto parts store ( 3 miles from the exit) and bougt a gallon of 50/50 antifreeze. IT TOOK ALL OF IT!!! and I still had room for almost 1/4 gallon more.
I know I should have stopped once I smelled it on Barret Parkway but i was blinded by beautiful women and fast cars. I made it home to my parents and that night after the reunion i dove in head first. I found the problem my overflow bottle had cracked at the middle mount. Well I didnt have time to order one I had to have my car backon the road by 4 pm Sunday. So I roughed up the surrounding area of the crack with a grinding pad. i then applied some 5 minute epoxy followed by a piece of fiberglass cloth and coated that with more 5 minute epoxy. So far it seems to be holding, but My car is still running hot with a full radiator. I bought a 180* thermo, just have to install it.
But all in all It was a very interesting Friday and Saturday for me.
