Default SVT contour?? any count or whats the deal???

i was getten outa my car the other day and a car was pulling in beside me and it was a contour and i did a double take. it said svt on it i didn't know they made svt contours?? any way whats the story they any good or what.?
it looked pretty sharp for a contour!

I have no idea on numbers, but SVT did a limited run of them.
There is one at my work, but I have no idea of whose it is. I've heard that they were pretty quick, but nothing like a SHO Taurus. Once again, I have no factual knowledge.....but I know he wasn't faking the SVT!

Yeah they were pretty nice rides. I almost bought one back in 2001, instead I bought a Stratus R/T coupe. I think I shoulda got the Contour.

Yeah, the SVT contours were nice, but they were mainly looks over performance. They only had a 200hp V6 over the standard 170hp V6, and custom facia and cladding. They also had some nicer wheels/tires. But I think the whole idea behind it was for family guys who wanted some respect while they took their kids to day-care :

they also had a sportier suspension, nicer interior with a Mach stereo and leather. That little 200 hp V6 could be worked over pretty well. I remember seeing a guy turn in a low 13 time slip with a turbo or blower setup, I can't remember which cuz it's been a while.
