I ALWAYS shutdown the O/D and shift manually, even on the street! Only time I leave the O/D on and use D is on the interstate! Kinda screws the MPG, but I don't really care!

o/d off.. the constant in and out will kill an O/D band... plus for the fact that O/D is a gear deigned to drop RPMS for gas mileage.... definitely leave it off.

Doesn't hurt anything to shift it manually

Never, ever, under any circumstances go WOT in OD though!

Been doing it for years, since the old C4, C6, and FMX days with 69 and 70 Mustangs and Torinos, never had a problem or a failure.

Congrats Nic. By any chance, you gonna have the issue fixed before we go to the track this Friday?

I leave the g/f's car in D when i run. I know with the GM tranny the computer shifts better then if you do it manually.

I'd recommend Baumann for all your 4R70W needs. They're the best in the business when it comes to those transmissions IMO. There's a few different ways they can go about making your car shift firmer/crisper. One is with their shift kit, or another is with a TCM they call "The Baumannator". Basically, it replaces your stock comptuer and allows you to set different variables like line pressure, shift points, converter lock up, etc.

Phil,

Thanks! I was pretty upset when I hit the rev limiter so early. I'm thinking about getting a Tweecer to get rid of the rev limiter, but I doubt it'll be before the end of the points season. That is, unless you've got $400 you wanna loan me for a few months
