I lost my 94 convertible to Hurricane flooding, so now I'm need to replace it.

I want to know which year models I should look for or which I should stay away from. I will be modifying for good street performance, but want to start with the best model for this. I'm sure the late model Cobras are the best, but out of my price range, so what's next?

Are earlier model Cobras better then later model GTs?
Any particular years to avoid?
Am I better off with a 4.6 vs. the 5.0 liter I had in my 94?
etc, etc.

Any information is appreciated.

Me myself would go with a 87-up fox bodied coupe 5.0 (or drop in a 5.8) just solely on all the performance options availible...plus i like those coupes better than all mustangs besides late 60's fastbacks but these are just my opinions i have no numbers of the most powerful years are anything

Here is a great site with horsepower numbers for Mustangs of all years as well as the history of all Mustangs.

Still looking for info on good years for performance add-on and years to stay away from.
