Exclamation Kick Exxon / Mobile where it hurts

GAS!!!!!!!!!!

Gas prices...I've heard this before but ehh its worth a shot
The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read it and join with us!

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $3.39 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50-$1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace.....not sellers.

With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas.

But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act TOGETHER to FORCE a price war.

HERE'S THE IDEA: For the rest of this year,

DON"T PURCHASE ANY GASOLINE FROM THE TWO LARGEST GAS COMPANIES
(which now are ONE), EXXON and MOBIL.

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:

1.If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices.

2.If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

HERE'S WHERE YOU COME IN:
To have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers.
It's really simple to do!!

NOW DONT WIMP OUT NOW OR YOU'LL BE PAYING HIGH PRICES FOR THE REST OF YOUR PASSIVE LIFE!
keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

This Place reaches millions of people everyday through bulletins, blogs, comments, & emails.
If each of you post it or email this and 30 people see it and the post it on their own bulletin for atlest 10 other people to see (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 post it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) .. and so on, by the time the bulletin reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers!

If those three million get excited and post this to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it.....
THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is copy this and paste it onto another bulletin for your friends to see and DON"T PURCHASE ANY GASOLINE FROM THE TWO LARGEST GAS COMPANIES
(which now are ONE), EXXON and MOBIL.
That's all. there are other gas station around you that are smaller and not associated with the larger ones. they're in every town and there's literally no excuse for not doing this for yourself and others.
(If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million. all
you have to do is post this for your friends to see so trust me on this one.)

How long would all that take? If each of us sees this bulletin and posts or emails
it for ten more people(or however many you have on your friends list) within one day of viewing, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!
I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you?
ACTING TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

If this makes sense to you, please COPY AND PASTE THIS BULLETIN ONTO ONE OF YOUR OWN.

PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.30 ($0.97 canadian)
RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK!
REMEMBER! DON"T PURCHASE ANY GASOLINE FROM THE TWO LARGEST GAS COMPANIES
(which now are ONE), EXXON and MOBIL

umm how often do these things actually work. Besides i dont even know what gas stations are owned by these companies. Also i dont kow if the gas i buy is theirs i buy from Esso its the best gas in our city. some of my friends have tested every gas station and the esso ones always gave the best milage. although this could work most people want to save money NOW in most peoples eyes they think i have other paychecks so I should get gas that will last me so i have money now. Just my thought.

Stick to it

Lazy or not...all we really have to do is stay away from Exxon and Mobile....here's some alternate gas stations I'm sure most of you have or heave heard of around your area...BP, Sunoco, Shell, Citco, and I'm sure everyone has a Sheetz. All we have to do is go to these ones only and stick to them...nothing lazy about it if you think about it. And from what I have seen in my area, most prices have frozen since they went up on Friday. Let's all just make an effort and we the consumers will come out on top.

That is just a plain stupid idea.

You'll just hurt the independent gas station owners and employees of Exxon (who bought Mobile a long time ago). When you go to an independent station, how are you going to know if it's Exxon or Chevron fuel in their tank?

Not really, franchises are all but out of business in So-Cal due to the EPA

The only one of these gas stationts that you listed that we have here is shell and out of all of them in the city i got the worst milage there. So that doesnt convince me at all

We boycott them they'll be liek whatever. lol Maybe after a year... okay but eh.

It's not them it's the other countries buying oil now and they are just making supply and demand. COME ON HYDROGEN! I hope they produce 300 hp and 325 lbs ft trq too and rumble just as good

Default Fair market value????

Skyrocketing energy prices propelled Exxon Mobil Corp. to the top of the 2006 Fortune 500 list.

Fortune compiled its list based on companies' 2005 revenues. Exxon Mobil raked in $340 billion in revenue, a 25.5 percent increase over 2004, and had $36.1 billion in profits, the most by any U.S. company in history.

It would work IF you could get about half the country to do it, which they never will.

Nah, still wouldn't work. A lot of gas stations, especially 'bargain' price stations that are independent, buy gas from whichever oil/gas company comes along and sells to them first. For instance, let's say that you have an independent store or chain of stores in your area called Quikfuel (I know of no store or chain by that name, but one may exist. In this case, I made it up. Not very creative, I know, but effective). Now, let's say that Quikfuel is located on a stretch of road that also has an Exxon, a BP and a Shell and, in order to compete, sells gas for five or ten cents per gallon cheaper than the national brands (don't feel too sorry for them - that's still a good profit.) Let's say that when the Exxon truck comes and fills Exxon's tanks, it has, for instance, 100 gallons of gasoline left over. What to do - take the excess gas back? Nope - stop by Quikfuel and sell it to them. Same thing for BP, Shell, etc. Now, if everyone is boycotting Exxon, Shell and BP, they must all be going to Quikfuel because, unless they are going to stay at home, bicycle, walk, take a bus or carpool (none of which are options for many people - I know none of those are options for me), people still need just as much gas, therefore, the demand for gas by Quikfuel increases and they can buy all the fuel that isn't being sold through the name-brand outlets. Eventually, the owners of Quikfuel will notice the increase in demand and most likely raise their prices to take advantage of the opportunity to increase profits. You're still buying the same gas from the same suppliers, just without the name brand. Now, however, rather than buying from a franchise of a national chain with a national reputation to uphold, you are buying from an independent whose facilities may not be as good as those at the branded stations (i.e. they could be more susceptible to water in their storage tanks, etc.) - sometimes there is good reason to pay for a brand name. At the very least, you are getting generic gas which is a melange of Exxon, Shell, BP and any other supplier who happens to come along.

The only real loss of sales are, as has been mentioned before, by the Exxon, BP or Shell franchise owners. They are losing gas sales as well as 'incidentals' - people who aren't stopping for gas also aren't buying cigarettes, soft drinks, candy bars, chips, beer, etc. from them. The boycott will not hurt Exxon but may bring about the closing of that particular franchise. Once the Exxon, BP and Shell franchises along that stretch of road go out of business, Quikfuel is the only station left on that stretch of road and so no longer has to sell at a lower price to compete with the 'big boys'. In fact, because of the 'convenience factor' to those who live near that location of Quikfuel or pass by it every day on the way to or from work, that location can now charge five or ten cents more than the average price for a gallon of gas rather than five or ten cents less. In such a scenario, gas prices along that particular stretch of road actually go up once the boycott has lessened competition, not down.

That being said, it is easy for me to boycott Exxon - I did it years ago. Not because of prices, however, but simply because I hate their gas. Every car I have ever put Exxon gas into has had knocks and pings until that fuel was gone. Personally, I try to consistently use the same station or handful of stations so that I can be reasonably confident in the quality and condition of the gasoline I buy.

The only way to effect changes in gas prices is to reduce overall demand. That means using less gas - period. Doing so, however, requires sacrifices that many of us are not willing to make. I do not criticize that unwillingness because I am, myself, unwilling. My reasoning?

First of all, carpooling or taking a bus are not options for me. I know no one who lives near me who also works near me. My wife and I work different schedules, not to mention that she often needs her vehicle for work, so I cannot simply drop her off on my way to work and pick her up on the way home. Public transit in the area where I live does not exist. Even if I wanted to take a bus, etc., I couldn't.

The second option would be to trade my Mustang for something suitably boring and fuel effecient. Not gonna happen. The way I see it, I am a working, taxpaying American. Sometimes it seems that I and my taxpaying brethren and sistren are keeping the whole blessed world up. Also, I don't take vacations to Hawaii or weekends in Aspen. A really nice vacation for me happens only two or three times a decade. Driving my Mustang brings me pleasure. Some of the brightest spots in my daily life are driving it. I'm not going to trade it for some boring crackerbox just because somebody wants to tell me that one of my simple pleasures, which I am paying for, is irresponsible. Besides, the vehicle I am planning on putting back on the road as an alternative to driving my Mustang all the time, my '64 F100, will use even more gas - and I will enjoy every gas-guzzling minute of it.

ofcourse it went up.. they tack on a percentage to the cost of producing a barrel of refined gas. If it cost $1 and they add 3% to it... the gas station owner tacks on 3% to it fo his proffit. Then you pay a $1.09 at the pump cause the round up.

'No if it cost them.. crude prices plus refining price... $2.00 to make a gallon of gas they sell it at 2.06(doubles their proffit) the the owner sell it for $2.12/gallon and doubles his proffit, but they are still making the same percentage.

There is no way that you will get every American to Boycot gas for one day. IF we do we will just have to purchase more the day before or after to take care of it and they will still make the same money. Boycottign one brand wont help much either... they have others to sell to. Infact oil companies sell to eachother as well... so say BP gets an unexpected jump in demand that they can't meet. They will either raise their prices or just purchase more from the company that has excess supply (in this case Exxon Mobile) at normal price and sell it at regular market price. THis would be true for all companies.

So, as you see for these two reasons is why it never ever does anything except piss all the gas execs off and cause all of them to raise prices on us, or just sell it all to china.
