That's totally untrue. I don't know what circles you run in, but in mine honesty is always the best policy.

There comes a time in every mans life when he begins to feel different towards girls. You will start to notice that little Suzy from down the street, is all of a sudden a lot smarter, funnier, and just an over all better person. This is natural, and is a feeling you should happily embrace. You will begin to feel some tingling in your groin area, and you will notice that Mr. PeePee will sometimes stand up all by himself for no apparent reason when you are thinking of how cool Suzy is, or just any girl in general. This is called an erection, and it will come in very handy later on in your life.
Even though you are still young, your next few years will play a crucial part in how much girls will like you when you reach high school. Take it from me son, be best friends with the beautiful girls now, be buddies with the cute girls, and make small talk with the popular fat girls now.
The beautiful girls are the easy ones at first, use them to gain very useful experience, since you are all so young, when you reach high school age, it will all be forgotten, and no one will mention it anymore. Be buddies with the cute girls, because more often then not, they will be the one's that turn beautiful in high school, while the previous beautiful girls will now have earned the slutty reputations. Being buddies with them now, will give you first dibs when they blossom. As far as the fat girls...learn this rule now, and use it forever, every fat girl has at least one pretty friend. Be buddies with them, and use them in your time of need to hook you up with one of their friends.

Yeah you have to be honest from the get go. I mean within reason. Dont tell her about the time you got drunk and threw up all over yourself. Thats just too honest for even the first couple months.
But honesty is definetely the key. It can get you into a good relationship and get you laid. As far as letting your gaurd down.... well dont lie to her but also watch her for lying to you!
Had that happen before. I got played by a girl right after I graduated and let me tell you after I realized what was happening I felt like an idiot. Took me about 2 months and man was I pissed.
But just be honest and be yourself and let us know what happens.
