There is a pretty good article in the called "behind the Mustang" I thought it was pretty good. Unfortunately this article is making me feel old lol! I was 18 when the 1987 Mustang came out. The car that really startedthe 5.0 thing, much like the 64' did for when the Mustang was first introduced. I remember reading those articles when they were current and when the aftermarket industry was in its infancy- specific performance parts for the fox Mustang were far and few between. I have a set of Lakewood traction bars i bought for my Mustang that had been on the market for a few years. These things are still on the car and believe it or not they work! As do my bulky yet effective Competition Engineering subframe connectors. I was glad to experience this second wave of performance much like people who are older than meexperienced the "muscle car "era. I think its not a bad article and take 5 or 10 mins to read next time your at your favourite newsstand

I didn't read the article, but I know what you mean.
I bought my first GT in 1986 when I was 24. Back in those days there were very few performance parts around for the 5.0. In fact, most hot rodders thought we were nuts for wanting to even touch a computer controlled car with FI.
I remember visiting with Jay Bittle, Steve Saleen, and few other up coming people back then. Sitting around in awe of the potential of the car.
Yes, those were the days. Makes me feel old

yeah i remember those days as well
i just read the article this morning
when they came out in 87 i was 19 and had been turning wrenches on my 66 for 2 years..........
i liked they way they looked but i swore it would be impossible to go fast in them without some serious cash outlay
plus u have to be a nasa engineer to work on it lol
now here were older and wiser and its plain as day that i can make my 88 just as fast as my 66 and twice as streetable for 1/4 of the money
in 87 I was 4 years old. I drive a 95 and I think it's still considered a new car. I also think the fox bodies are still a fairly current car. For me the classics start in the early 70's, when the muscle cars came to an end.
I have subscrition to 5.0 and Super Sords. I read that article and I thought it was pretty dood as well. I've been following 5.0 Mustang's since I was 13 back in 1990 and it is pretty impressive how far the aftermarket has come. I use to follow the Mustang aftermarket almost religiously up until the last two years. I tok a little time off and now there are even more goodies for me to put on pride and joy. The 5.0 Mustang's are the new modern classics.
Damn, I was a senior in high school when the 64 1/2 came out. I saw the intro at the worlds fair in N.Y. I thought it was too small. I liked the Fairlanes and Comets better.

I believe official classic status starts when a vehicle is 20 yrs old and antiques start at 25 yrs as far as insurance and registration is concerned.
I think that varies by state. Here in PA classic starts at 15 yrs. and antique at 25yrs but it has to be "restored or maintained in its original condition." Used to be your car had to be 15 yrs old AND on "the list". But now its age only.

Here in GA, you can get antique tags at 25 yrs. In some state I saw resto-mod tags, I think. There is a variety of tags here in GA, when I go to work Thurs. night, I'll see what there is available here, along these lines.
Hey pocket3799, I live really close to you. I live in Albany pretty close to the airport and fairgrounds. Do you come to Albany often on the weekends, maybe I've seen you around.
