MT is reporting that GM is having problems keeping the 2008/9 Camaro under 4000lbs, much less the mod-3000lb range on the concept. The Holden Sedan it's based on has tougher crash regs than in the US (Not sure I believe this!) and the IRS is adding to the weight problems.
Looks like it'll be a closer contest than originally projected! If the BASE Camaro is 500lbs over target, wonder what the Z28 will be?
In any case, it looks like the computer simulation data is all wrong and the Mustang may have an advantage over BOTH the Camaro AND the Challenger.

that's not VTEC, -but yeah, it'll have the 300C/Magnum/Challenger/Charger multiple displacement cylinder shutoff thing going . . .
Costs are thought to be within $2000 of the Mustang with V6/V8/SuperV8 engines . . .

anyone have a picture of the production camaro? i'm shopping for a garage buddy for my mustang and so far i like the challenger or the pontiac solstice...the soltice aint fast but its soooo sweet looking

The Solstice GXP /Sky Turbo aren't slow, by any means . . .
no final photos, but it should be very close to the concept. Interior will change quite a bit.

I think the GXP is more than 260 horse, it's a v8. My wife has an '04 GTP COMP G, it's a 3800cc supercharged v6 with 260 HP. I'll be honest, I drove it occasionally before I got my '06 GT and it will flat a$$ fly. Is over a foot longer than my Mustang, heavier, and has 4 doors and handles like a cat. I read the test on the GXP, they said it was nose heavy with bad oversteer, I don't remember the HP rating but think it's little over 300. It should be faster in a straight line than my wifes car and hers is d**n decent for a 4 door.

Have you seen the Mallet Solstice? It has a 400 HP LS2 in it! with a 6spd! its 40K and they are building a limmited amount....but you can buy a base solstice and take it to them and for 20Grand they will hook it up.
