Rocker stripes look nice on the old coupes . Not to sure about over the hood/roof/trunk on a coupe . My 0.02 cents for what it is worth . But hey , detail the car as you like , not what we like . Everybody has their own taste . Maybe you can do a image search and see with and without stripes . After all , a pic is worth a thousand words . Good Luck

I agree about the rocker stripes - almost mentioned that myself in my previous post. I was thinking more of the over the hood/roof/trunk stripes. I like those on fastbacks, but not so much on coupes - but, as Punxsy said, it's not my car. I think Boyd Coddington did an older coupe (called the project Crazy Horse, I believe) in yellow with silver racing stripes, but I think that one was a fastback. Sounds weird, but actually looked pretty good. In fact, I believe he did a few Crazy Horse editions of the S197 - also in yellow with silver stripes (called them Crazy Horse II, I think.)
I found this listing (with pictures) of a nightmist blue '67 fastback on Ebay - still not a coupe, but maybe it will help:
depends on what you think looks nice , if you have photo shop you can edit a pic of your car to see what it would look like and then post and get opinions also

I don't think hood, roof, trunk stripes look good on a coupe. Actually I think they look terrible. As said before, the rocker stripes do look good on a coupe. If it was a fastback my opinion would be the opposite. I suppose some color stripes might look better than others. On your car it's definitely your call.

Geez - I made that statement and wasn't even drinking. I meant to say that Coddington did an older Mustang but that I think it was a fastback, not that he created some weird fastback/coupe hybrid.
Over the Top Racing Stripes part #C5ZZ-19E504-B (white); Yes they were available from Ford and were shown in Fords 1965 Dealer only - Showroom Merchandising Album installed on a Mustang Coupe. These Stripes were inspired by all the many Ford Powered FIA International Road Racing success i.e.; Mustang and Falcon in the Monte Carlo and of course the GT40 and Shelby’s. That Stripe Kit was also depicted early on a Must Cpe in Fords mid year 1964 supplemental accessories brochure. All of this way before 1965 mid year GT Stripes intro. It's your choice, obviously. If you like 'em, then get the stripes. White stripes look terrific on most shades of blue.
However, I agree with those who would skip the stripes on a coupe. Painting the stripes on a fastback resembles the Shelby GT350 and would be fine. But to me the stripes just look a bit out of place on a coupe.

Another vote no here, never liked stripes on the coupe. My first car was a nightmist blue 66 coupe with parchment interior, it was gorgeous and one of my favorite color combos on the early cars. I'd only go with rocker stripes if you're not going to use the rocker trim. I don't have any pics of it on my computer but do have one from a different car I saw at a show. I'll post it if I can find it.
