I've been taking my Ranger to car shows about every two weeks since WFC9 in May.
I've only met ONE AFM member in person!
Anyway, like my Ranger most of your cars are a work in progress and it never really gets finished. There is always something I want or need to do to and procrastinate when it comes to going to a show until the last minute, but GO TO THE SHOW!
I've seen some V6 Stangs take home a 1st in Class and one owner get 3 awards at one show!
It's great fun regardless if you place or not and see some incredible machines that give me all sorts of ideas for my ride.
A almost did not go to WFC9 and in fact went WITHOUT my Ranger but decided, with prodding from my wife and son, to enter the Show and Shine and returned home to get it.....took 1st in Class and got a huge trophy.
Since then I've won several other shows in my class and am hooked! I plan and make every one that I can.
I had my mustang to one show last year . And won a small trophy ( first place ) for my class . It was kinda cool . I was invited to show at several others too . But sadly I wrecked the car and didn`t make it to them . This year I just haven`t had time or the car detailed spotless like before .... so sad .
I was lucky enough to meet a fellow AFM member a couple of weeks ago . we were looking at each others stangs in a parking lot and started talking . Was kind of cool when we found out we were both members .
every time I see somebody in a mustang I wave or sometimes even say hi and then tell them about AFM . Just spreadin the (mustang ) love

The shows sound like fun. Congratulations, guys, on your trophies. In my area, it seems like there aren't that many car shows that would be appropriate for most of our Mustangs. If there are, they aren't advertised very well. That is part of the problem around here - the only real notification of car shows comes when the 6:00 news reports that there was one - after it's already over. The only one I can think of that gets any real hype every year is the Corvette Expo. Most of the others - when I do know about them or happen upon them - are for Classic cars or cars that are really tricked out or just aren't very well organized or advertised. The newest Mustang that I have seen at any of the few shows I have been to was a very much built Fox body.
GRMC (Georgia Regional Mustang Club) is one of the oldest Mustang Club of America chapters, and attendance is free (entry for a car is $25). Lots of games, door prizes, cake walks and other nonsense as well.
Another group to check out in the Atlanta area is www.xfoa.net

Thanks, Triple. Are you talking about the show that is scheduled for August 13 (the Brinkley show, I think it was called)? I could find no details there for that one other than the date - am I looking in the right place?
I love Atlanta. In fact, were it entirely up to me (no spouse's wishes to consider) there is a good chance I would be living there (actually, I would probably be living in Marietta rather than Atlanta proper.) My wife has a good friend who lives in Atlanta and we haven't been down to see her and her husband yet this year, so this would be a good time to do so - and we would even have a place to stay. Only problem might be that my mom's birthday is Aug. 14, so we might end up having a party for her that weekend.
Show is at John Bleakley Ford August 13. We start signing people in at 12 noon - over by 5pm. Nice, fun afternoon. Bring lots of mustangs. All ford powered vehicles welcome.
I'm surprised they didn't have a copy of the flyer on the site (used to be there, but the guy who keeps up or site just had a baby, so maybe things are a bit loose right now.
Hope you can come - if you do, look me up! I'll be one of the judges.
There's a long list of cruises (the one north of Atlanta, in Canton, is gigantic - hundreds of cars every time) on the site, plus a list of other shows. LOTS of info on the MCA site link - you should check that out.

Just click where it says "click here to download" and you get the pdf with all the info. Turns out its only $20. Have to raise our prices next year!
Hope you can come - pass the word, make a convoy - we're only a few hours down the interstate from you guys - you could easily come down in the morning, and be home before dark.
Anyone with questions, feel free to contact me.

I drove my '75 Tbird all the way from Texas to St. Louis for World Ford Challenge 6 but had no intention of showing it, last morning prodding from the guys I was with (ScottHalliday, Twister, Highwayman) talked me into it, but a dead battery caused me to miss the deadline (and taking home 1st (and only) in class) by 23 minutes, it was cool though, WFC staff still gave me a participation plaque and goody bag free for my hard luck! (EVERYBODY had seen the hood up on that thing all week, I'd just gotten done putting everything under the hood back together 2 days before leaving for St. Louis, and by the time I got to Tulsa, Oklahoma, half of it had decided it wanted to come back apart! Got to the point people were asking my what times something that big ran!)

I remembered reading in another thread that coloradostang was driving in and after seeing an '05 with Colorado plates on it, ask the owner if he was who I thought he might be....he was indeed and we had a GREAT time!
Sorry I missed you!
One of the highlights was the Redlinetuning guys were there. Nothing listed for my Ranger so the owner/engineer of the hood strut system came out to my truck and personally did the measurements and had their installer, who was busy as hell all weekend, put some hood struts on my Ranger.
Going to a show put on by the local Fords Unlimited Chapter this Sunday the 30th.

I was there back in 2003 at WFC 6. I might be there next year though... because even though I want to go road racing... the parts in my garage and my race car would combine to make one mean drag car (got a 460 doing nothing in the corner, got a radiator big enough for it that'll fit in a fox, got a Holley Dominator and spacer plate... etc. etc. etc...)
