Have you sat in or driven a C6 Corvette? Very comfortable car, could cruise for hours without issue.
Is the GT500 underrated? I've seen (via the net only) dyno's ranging from 410's to 440rwhp with 1/4 mile times hitting about 116-117, about right for the power to weight.

The C6? From the 1/4 mile times seen thus far, it seems about even in the category. I could see going around the twisties, braking, cornering, etc where the C6 outshines the 3900lb GT500. The C6 Z06 is obviously a blow out vs the GT500.

I heard that too - I was just up in Ann Arbor, and a buddy is a retired Ford engineer (industrial, not mechanical). Still, he meets once a month with a group of other Ford guys, and word gets around.
They can easily squeeze that motor for another 100hp. Word is they will do it with some slight changes to the intake, the EEC (particularly fuel management - may or may not require bigger injectors) and the exhaust. No surprises.
What they're NOT going to do is come up with an aluminum block, which would be worth as much as some extra power in my book.
No word on cosmetic changes, though we all agreed they need to take the design back to the show car.

yes i sat in and drove the c6 and its still seems way to compact to me , its rides a little smoother but the gt500 rode alot smoother and had felt more comfortable to me when i rode in it at the henry ford museum ...

The GT500 probably has a more street tuned suspension and is a bigger, heavier car. My C6 with its Z51 options is a bit rough on the roads but comfortable for a 6' 215lb lost soul.

I've driven all year corvettes, and one of the most comfortable ones are the C5 & C6.....i had a C4 and it was awefull..plus it gets HOT! C3's are a little better but still sucks.. and 53-62 were about average and 63-67 were about the same. My C5 was very comfortable and the C6 i test drove was even better. The stang is comfortable though, it feels more like a regular car than the vette, but the vette is not a regular car...its a sports car...
