Its sad for GTO owners, but GM is starting to install superchargers on their LS2 cars. The new Vahxaull/Holden Manaro with the 6.0 LS2 will come with a supercharger that will push this car's power to 500+, all for under 40K. This is only available in Europe or Australia since the GTO is gone! There is a Supercharged STS, the new SUPER Z06 is suppose to be blown also. I guess they are finally on the ball for more power with forced induction. Lets see if TOP GEAR features this car soon...maybe againts a GT500...that would be cool...

Yeah, I know Gm cars have more power already, but they generally dont use superchargers in their V8 motors, its usually old school N/A with pushrods. I think they are finally bringing on the power with forced induction just like their V6's of the past.

Check out this month's Motor Trend article about the new Grand Prix Holden is trying to sell GM.
Ford Australia is also wanting to export muscle cars to the US, or failing that, supply the IRS, motors and other parts.
Insane, really.
Australia is a socialistic (still democratic, mind you) country with high wages, high production costs, unions AND socialized medicine, and a LOOOOOONG logistics train to reach the U.S.....
And both GM and Ford are closing factories here so they can import "American" muscle cars from Australia.

I wouldn't say the C6 Z51 spanks the GT500, maybe in handling/braking but in a straight line, it's close. A C6 Z06 is already a close match for a GT. The Blue Devil might make it a blow out.

Its really a simple phenomenon. You do something stupid in a very public way (GTO imported from the moon, er, Australia to displace an American muscle car, for instance).
Next thing you know, every con man on the planet is selling you Fiat stock (oops, GM already sank 2 or 3 billion in that one), the Brooklyn Bridge (wait a minute, the Aussies may already own that one), etc.
GM was dumb enough to toss bushel baskets of hundred dollar bills into the Fiat furnace, so why not try to get some for GM Australia?
Can't really blame them. After all, if they don't screw GM out of its capital, someone else will.

I'm ready for the new Camaro, just so we can stop comparing a 2 seat Corvette coupe with a 4 seat GT500 convertible (which is what the lame Car and Driver magazine just did). Then it turned out it was all for "funsies", since they didn't actually measure anything.

Comparing Camaro to Mustang will make sense.
Ford unfortunately has NEVER made a car like the Corvette. The last gen TBird COULD have been that car, but wasn't, and the GT40 cost twice as much as a Vette and was not intended to compete with them either.
Used to be, even lameo magazines didn't compare a Mustang to a Vette - until GM got out of the ponycar business.
Yep, be nice to have the Camaros back to hate.

They've used SCs here for at least the past 10 years on their 3.8L. It's been an option on their 4s for at least 6 years.
