i think this is hilarious, who would have thought wesley snipes of all people. I guess it doesnt matter how rich you are, one would still still try to rip off the government.

Yeah. On the one hand, I feel like we average, working folks pay our taxes, so the rich folks should, too. On the other hand, it's hard to think of inflating one's tax return as 'ripping off the government' when it was the person, not the government, who worked for the money in the first place. If a guy with a gun says, "Give me your money or else," it's called armed robbery. When the IRS, with guns and lawyers, says "Give us your money or else," it's called taxes. A certain amount of taxes are necessary for running the country, etc. and I understand that. I'm not saying there should be no taxes whatsoever, but when I see our tax money going, hand over fist, to every little pi$$ant country in the world rather than back to the people who worked for it, I start feeling like the government is ripping us off.
In this case, though, I think that a rich actor like Snipes being willing to risk going to prison to try and be more rich is just plain dumb. Surely he could have found a legal, if somewhat shady, alternative to be able to keep more of his money. And what's up with trying to enter foreign countries with forged documents? Maybe he has himself confused with one of the characters from his movies, or maybe he is so egotistical that he thinks people are just going to say, "Oh, it's you, Mr. Snipes. Don't worry about those pesky laws. Come right on in, sir."
Apparently he joined some group that claims income tax is unconstitutional. (saw it on Bill Oreilly last night... yes... I was that bored.)
I'd tend to agree, but not a whole lot I can do about it, I don't pay, the Mafia, I mean, IRS, is gonna come to my house with guns, attorneys, and threats. If I don't respond to that, the Mafia, I mean, IRS is going to seize my assets... or... if I DO repond, but negatively (such as bringing my own guns to the door...) the Mafia, I mean, IRS's own hired guns are gonna shoot me and/or throw me in jail... that simple...
You just don't screw with the Mafia, I mean, IRS. Heck, Al Capone WAS the Mafia, and the IRS got him!
Anyone else ever notice the glaring similarities between the Mafia and the IRS? I mean, both contact you whether you like it or not, make you an offer you can't refuse, and if you don't refuse, they get a cut of your hard earnings in exchange for "protection" and if you DO refuse, they can end up sending people with guns after you!
Wesley Snipes will end up like Al Capone and Heidi Fleiss, no matter what else he's done wrong, screwing with the IRS will be what lands him in prison.

Warning: Political Content! This is why the NRST (National Retail Sales Tax) movement is gaining momentum. With the NRST the IRS goes away. No more filing tax returns every year. No more risking paying huge penalties or potentially going to jail for failing to file those returns. No more accusing the wealthy of not having to pay their taxes due to shady tax dodges to which only the rich are priviledged. If you buy something you pay a federal tax on the purchase, even if you aren't a citizen. The wealthier you are and the more you buy the more you pay in taxes. Simple! Of course, there's a down side: all of those tax accountants will be out of work. H&R Block will likely be diminished or cease to exist entirely. There's also the chance that the black market will blossom and organized crime will enjoy a new golden age. Hey, Washington DC has never been as safe with the "gubmint" in charge of security as Vegas was when the mob was in charge.

Some people at my desk job work at the IRS during tax season. One guy decided to give it a try. He worked there about a week. Then one day he was sitting at his desk, and security came and told him that they didn't like the results of his background check, and that he was fired. They then escorted him out of the building.
I knew better than to even apply, even though some of my coworkers had urged me to do so...
