Alright, I'll admit I was at fault too cuz i was going like 70 mph on regular street. But damnit, those @$$holes who wants to turn right needs to #*(%# yeild to those who have the green light.
This is what happen tonite that almost killed me. Im going like 70 mphs and i was going through an intersection. I see there's this car waiting to turn right. I figure he/she would wait cuz theres no traffic behind me, and I was going pretty fast. Who would have thought this dip$#!t would turn while i was in the middle of the intersection. I slam my brakes hard and i started to lean over to the middle lane cuz it was emtpy. Instead of stopping, this @$$hole proceeds to make the turn and i nearly miss this MFer. So, now im in the middle lane and i just blow by the jerk and i took a quick glance, i didnt see who was driving cuz i was still going fast, now i have a car in front of me cuz he's going slower then me. I continue to hold on to the brakes the whole time and i slam it as hard as i can now. Luckily, i slowed down enough to not hit the guy in front of me.
Problem, now my steer seems weird. Its like a knocking sound. And if feels like im running over something. At first i thought it might have been cuz i blown a cyclindar, but i dont hear it when i stop, only when i go. Hopefully its cuz of the tires but being worn unevenly after i roasted it. Cuz it was smoking.
Finally, thank you Goodyear for making an awesome set of tires. I think i would be seriously hurt it not for these amazing tires. Goodyear Eagle F1 tires are amazing.
Slow down before you kill somebody.
It's hard for others to judge your speed at 70.
Emergency vehicles with sirens/lights/horns don't even go that fast through intersections.
70?! It sounds like the fault is mostly all yours.
DSS 331 stroker, AFR 185 heads, Performer rpm 2 intake, Accufab 75 mm race TB, 30lb injectors, 80 mm Pro-M mass air, Extreme energy cam 266.
Anderson ford power pipe the big one, Ford motor sport shorty headers, Bassani x pipe custom cat back with flows, World class T5, center force duel friction clutch.
I hate people who turn into on-coming traffic...........IT'S ILLEGAL!!!!
If people actually toook time to read the DOT manual it would help. Speeding or not you DO NOT turn into on coming traffic even if the right lane is open.
The worst is when the right lane is open and they pull out into your middle lane or even the left lane.
Every time it happens to me I wish I was in a dump truck so I could just rear end them and slam them into the nearest pole on the side of the road.,.......Idiots!!!

Good luck trouble shooting the car problem.
I agree here, it is very tough to judge speed, Why do you think at train crossings, there are so many accidents when drivers try to beat the train. Going 70 through an intersection is vedy vedy bad, not to mention, you could get a reckless driving ticket for it.
Having said all that, you could really get a thread going on stupid drivers, my favorite pet peeve is the LACK OF USING
TURN SIGNALS! kind of goes along with your yielding rant. You are merrily going say 45 and someone in front of you slams on their brakes and decides to turn with NO SIGNAL

Hello. You have more than likely flat-spotted your tires.Isn't Costa Mesa like 30 miles from Los Angeles?I would think that in a place like that people would be pulling out in front of you all of the time.Don't be surprised by people doing what you have seen them do a thousand times before.I know that here in Houston the rule of the road is 'two cars enter, one car leaves'.I drive like everybody out there is waiting in ambush for me to blink so they can smash into my car or hit the eject button to launch a body panel off of their car.Stop signs mean nothing.Signaling a turn or lane change is a second degree felony. It won't be long before someone else pulls out in front of you and does not accellerate up to road speed.Expect it, because it's surely coming.
Not using turn signals kills me epsecially when they are right in front of you. Or better yet, how about they put it on after they stop to turn. So you have this person in front of you that just stops in the middle of the road, then turns it on, as if I couldn't figure out that you were going to turn because hitting the brake and taking your hand off the wheel at the same time is punnishable by lethal injection. Yes, the right-turn-on-redders can sometimes pull out in front of you. It drives me crazy when they do it, then drive 10mph under the speed limit. Hey Buddy, just because you want to do 40 in a 50, doesn't mean that everyone else wants to as well. Okay, that guys/gals, I feel better, my rant for the day.....
Actually, I live in Irvine, and the average speed limit here is 50+mph. I know, it crazy, but I kid you not. The section i was in was 50 and it increases to 60 further down the road.
But still, even if i was speeding, that other guy shouldnt turn if he/she is not sure about oncoming traffic. I think thats one of the first thing you learn in traffic school.

My personal favorite is when I am on the Interstate with a speed limit of 70 and the semi in the right lane going 46 on a steep grade just absolutely, positively has to pass the semi in front of him who is going 45 and cannot wait until I pass by but has to cut me off. I mean, I'm driving a friggin' yellow Mustang for the love of God - it's not exactly a stealth vehicle! I don't hang in their blind spots, so I figure if they can't do any better job than that they shouldn't be allowed to drive a tricycle, much less a multi-ton vehicle. My father fed and clothed us for years as a long haul truck driver (interspersed with periods when he would grow tired of that and work in metal fabrication), but I swear truckers were better drivers back then. There are still some good drivers out there today, but the majority of them drive like a ricers in huge, fart-canned Civics - weaving in and out of traffic and (when not bogged down climbing a hill) travelling at rates of speed that would embarrass all but the most hardcore streetracers.
There is a weigh station in Knoxville that has been there for years, so most truckers in this area have to know it is there. Just in case, there are signs warning that the weigh station is approaching. Still, some of these guys wait until the last minute and start trying to jockey for position. Last night, as my wife and I were on our way to dinner, on the three lane Interstate, a semi was in the leftmost lane (which should be illegal in the first place - semis don't belong in the fast lane), and the driver cut across all lanes of traffic and onto the weigh-station offramp as if he were in a Lotus rather than a semi.
As for the original story, yes, D Un4given should not have been going 70 through an intersection. I would hardly say the near accident was 'his fault', however. I mean, let's not lose sight of the fact that he had the greenlight - period - and the other guy had a redlight - period. Regardless of the speed D Un4given was going, red means 'stop' and green means 'go'. If a person makes a right on red, pulls out in front of me and we are in an accident, they ran the redlight - period. Saying that is my fault because I should have expected someone to pull out in front of me is like saying that if a person is walking down the city sidewalk and gets mugged it is their fault they were mugged because they should expect that kind of thing. Personally, I think right turns on red should be illegal (and that is becoming the case in some of this area's more dangerous intersections.)

You make some very good points, I do have to relate to the truckers! of course when they pass a fellow trucker, it takes them about an hour to do that....I agree 100% on the no right turn on red, especially due to crosswalks.. I park quite a ways from work and cars always blow through the crosswalks like nothing making their right turn on red. There are still the idiots who don't realize pedestrians have the right of way....

Let's not forget to give a big 'shout out' to those morons who see you coming and sit at the intersection for thirty seconds or longer just so they can decide to pull out in front of you at the last second, making you slam on your brakes even at reasonable speeds.
Another thing? Bicyclers who feel they have the 'right' to ride their bikes right down the middle of main, public roads (where they can't possibly keep up with the posted speeds of 45mph or more and, therefore, cause backups and unnecessary traffic hazards.) Backroads, secondary roads and lightly travelled side roads are one thing but I have literally seen people riding right down the middle of one lane on Kingston Pike, the main thoroughfare that runs through most of the city of Knoxville (it's only four lanes total - two each direction, so that effectively blocks 1 of the 2 lanes going that direction on a street that is already overcrowded, heavily travelled and dangerous.) Bicyclers are, basically, pedestrians. Would I be allowed to walk down the middle of the road? No, so get that bike out of there - at least stay to the side and pull over out of the way when people get behind you, don't continue to pedal for all you are worth at 5 to 10mph as if you are suddenly going to get a bionic burst of speed. Guess what...travelling in a car at extremely slow rates of speed is illegal because it blocks the flow of traffic, so unless you are one hardcore pedaling son of a gun, no, legally you don't have the right to do so on a bicycle. Share the roads? Tell you what, I'll share the roads with your bicycle when you agree to share the bike trails with my Bronco II.

Over here in Meeechigan, the law says that bikers get a foot of space on the side of the road....not the WHOLE road
