The war will continue as long as Bush is in office, for no other reason than the feckless president can’t face the embarrassment of admitting defeat. The chain of events is not complete: Bush, having learned little from his mistakes, may yet seek to embroil America in new wars against Iran and Syria.
Meanwhile, America’s image in the world, its capacity to persuade others that its interests are common interests, is lower than it has been in memory. All over the world people look at Bush and yearn for this country—which once symbolized hope and justice—to be humbled. The professionals in the Bush administration (and there are some) realize the damage his presidency has done to American prestige and diplomacy. But there is not much they can do.

On Nov. 7, the world will be watching as we go to the polls, seeking to ascertain whether the American people have the wisdom to try to correct a disastrous course. Posterity will note too if their collective decision is one that captured the attention of historians—that of a people voting, again and again, to endorse a leader taking a country in a catastrophic direction. The choice is in our hands.
Woe to him who builds his palace by unrighteousness, his upper rooms by injustice, making his countrymen work for nothing...Does it make you a king to have more and more cedar?Did not your father have food and drink? He did what was right and just,so all went well with him. He defended the cause of the poor and needy, and so all went well...But your eyes and your heart are set only on dishonest gain,on shedding innocent blood and on oppression and extortion. Jer 22:13, 15-17
It's not a conservative/liberal thing -it's an American Citizen thing. I used to be Republican, but these guys aren't anything like a Republican or Conservative.
These guys spend like drunken sailors on leave, borrow from foreign countries (a FIRST) to pay for needless-war-profiteering through no-bid contracts and run the government and the population as though it were a 15th Century Court. It's like we've devolved into a Spanish Monarchy.
Courtesans get the cash, and the peasants get shafted.

Agreed KSCoyote....our president is an idiot....he lied to us about the reason to go into Iraq, no weapons of mass destruction found, nor do the terrorist THERE threaten us HERE. He has removed the financial successes of the Clinton admin...now we are deep to our eyes in debt.
Furthermore, the idiot president has done NOTHING to stem the tide of American jobs going over seas....off-shoring is now pendemic. Bush is owned by corporate America, the loobyists, big business. He has single handedly fooked our country through lies, manipulation, and worse. And the so-called low sub 5% unemployment figure is due to thousands of jobs being available at places like Walmart, McDonalds, and other $hit holes that do not offer a true living wage.
....all this from a life long Republican that voted for the idiot.....
....I won't get fooled again.....VOTE LIBERTARIAN! The democrats are not better either...don't let them fool you...otherwise you'll bounce from one idiot to another.
Futhermore, this phrase the Pres uses "cut & run"...this implies that anyone that disagrees with him is a coward....this is manipulation.
A coward will stick to his mistakes in stubborn abandonment.
A real man admists his mistakes, changes course and moves on.
A true coward sticks to the same thing that is wrong, wrong, wrong.
I challange Bush to be a real man, do the manly thing, by admiting defeat, the mistake, change course and move on....this can only be done by a real man, a true brave courageous man...but of couse he won't do this, so long as his dog is the last living thing to agree with him.

Libertarians won't do anything about outsourcing.
I have a libertarian streak, but Libertarians are Corporate as well -With few exceptions. The California Libertarians are NOT corporate, and would get my vote, but the Libertarians here are a different story.
So is the DLC.
To protect jobs you've either got to vote for Labor Democrats or Paleo-Conservatives.
Both of those wings are fine -Buchanan or Gephardt. Former Republican Senator Danforth or Boxer.
Forget about DLC Dems or Neoconservative Repubs - they won't do a darned thing.

You're absolutely correct! Furthermore, the American Conservative magazine is a really interesting publication that represents the traditional Conservative ideals. I went on the internet to try to understand what has happened to these traditional ideals. An internet search shows that the Conservative Party has been splintered primarily by the neocons. The neocons being defined as those Liberals that deserted the Democratic and Liberal Party to support Ronald Reagan when he was President. They are primarily Globalists which completely explains what has happened to our foreign policy under the 2 Bush presidencies, both of whom are neocons. The neocons have also taken over much control of the Republican Party. So, if it seems that there is no difference between the Parties, there really isn't as much as there used to be. Only true Paleo Conservative ( the arch enemies of the neocons) and Libertarian ideals are different from what amounts to the Liberal influence on both major political parties. As such, the American Conservative Magazine serves a very useful purpose in keeping the Paleo Conservative ideals alive!

Actually, I have to thank KS for bringing articles from the American Conservative magazine to the forums. I don't remember when I had such interesting political material to read as I have seen in the ACM articles. I just went on line and subscribed to ACM as a result.

Happy to be of service!
The difference is REALITY.
The Neo-Cons bring together the worst of BOTH Liberals and Conservatives. One would think they would bring together the best attributes, but they have all the delusions of wild-eyed liberals and the lock-step discipline of the Conservatives, and subvert religion to achieve the goals, while behaving a most unreligious manner. All glory does not go to God, it goes to the "King."
I've never seen anything like them.

Yes, the neocons seem to really be of another completely different political philosophy. They are neither Liberals, nor Conservatives, nor Libertarians. They are, however, definitely Globalists which is VERY bad! Thinking about it, all the worst attributes of the political disciplines mixed together would equal the Globalist philosophy! I guess they would rather be called Neocons as opposed to Globalists! We're in trouble as long as they're in charge!

Financial successes of the Clinton administration??? Have you looked at the DJIA the last few days? It's at a record high, even higher than Mrs. Clinton could get them.
The terrorists in Iraq haven't threatened us here for one reason, they were too busy with issues in the middle east. Eventually it would have turned to us. For the last 25 years the USA has been punked by just about every terrorist organization on the planet. I say it's about damn time we started swinging back.

I totally agree, it takes more of a man to admit his mistakes.....Bush is way too deep into it to admit he screwed up. Politically he can't send troops to Iraq, have 3,000 of them die and then throw up his hands and say "sorry, I was wrong". He'll never do that and it would be political suicide for him and most of the Republican party. I go back and forth on this issue because I think the war is bogus, but if we pull out now you'll have every wack job country in that area in Iraq trying to take it over. Mr. Bush has got our country is a real **** storm and I'm not exactly sure there is anyway out of it at this point.
As for the terrorists not attacking us here because they are busy fighting our troops in Iraq....I don't think that is true. I think that's Bush's response to botched war. First it was weapons of mass destruction.....where are they? Once the public started saying WTF, where are the nuclear weapons.....Bush then switched to "well, we'd rather fight the terrorists there rather than here".....now that's BS, we didn't hear about terrorists attacks in Iraq before we went there so I think they came there after we got there.
I'm a moderate democrat, but have voted for both parties cause I vote for the candidate, not the party.....I had to throw out that disclaimer.
