Even Ford said the the Shelby was not in the corvettes class when people started complaining about the solid rear axle. And from what I’ve seen I agree. If it is not in the same class as a corvette then comparing it to a ferrari is a real joke. Its overpriced and overweight.
Now don’t get me wrong if I had the money for a ferrari I would not buy one, of cource I would not buy a Shelby either, I would buy a Ford GT in a heartbeat though.

-1988 Ford Mustang GT Convertible, 331 Trick Flow Stroker with a Tremec 3550....oh yea and a 1.6 liter V-TECH motor to work the convertible top.
- 1966 Inline 6……..the pile of parts car!
Yeah , you are paying for the name . But on the other hand that is what will make the car grow in value threw the years as well . Most people who buy these cars are buying them for sunday drivers and shows ( I would think ) We all know that for around 15k we could have the fastest car (built fox body ) on the road / track . but that still isn`t as cool as owning a GT 500

It will proably take multiple Decdes and inflation to catch the price that some are paying now. Then factor in the cost of the maintenance of storing said vehicle... not a good investment. I have said it a 100 times about the new collectors cars. They are nto like the old ones. Back then people bought then and drove them and only a few got stored. Plus, nobody knew what their $3500 car was goign to be worth, so most of them didn't get treated as such. This will not be true with the new cars. There will still be plenty of low milage, mint, garage stored GT500's 20 years from now. That doesn't help pump the value up.

so true...there will be so many mint gt500s that they cant possibly be worth what the originals were ...on the other hand...a mint mustang gt will be a rarity and thus worth more ...that will be such a hoot...and it makes a lot of sense
WRONG. They're making 8-10k over a 3 year period. Which means, there will be more Shelby GT500's on the road then Terminators (about 16k over the 2 years)...

"this is the real deal, a GT500.." the lines were amazing... the front fascia, slanted headlights, hood vents, Goodyear F1s, ducktail wing, and air diffuser style rear bumper.. breathtaking.. and all in black. one word: sexy.
the hood was popped, exposing the huge 5.4 and the roots style blower.. the first time i had seen a supercharger in person. i looked at the car up and down.. black leather interior with the works. manufacturer price? bout 40k. dealership price? 62k. and, according to the all knowing salesperson, "they've already made all they're gonna make".. ha. can you say manipulation of the law of supply and demand?
oh well.. its a stunning car no matter the cost.. ill have to find the camera and go back to snap some pictures for you guys. i think i have a new dream car.. i'll have to scrounge up a few 10 thousand dollars.. but in the meantime.. *drool*

of course he knew that the salesman was wrong, thats why he referred to him as the (sarcastic) all knowing salesman. we all know salesmen dont know sh it about cars, hell ive been into dealers just to mess with the salesmen and pick their brain. the people who truly know are the people like everyone here. enthusiasts.
btw if i had all the money in the world, i would have a very formitable all ford garage. then other subsequent garages would be seperated by manufacturer.

i was driving home from school, making a Michigan left (its where you have to turn right to turn left kinda confusing) when i heard a loud sound behind me. i finished the turn and was deafened by a yellow and black GT500 flying past me. i almost rear ended the guy in front of me cause i was staring at it. i love those things...i want one...im gonna have one...(mumbling)...
